sledgehammer training

Nice article. I have been swinging the sledge hammers for a number of years. I don't use the style shown in the article. I use the "wood-chopping" and the "Firefigher" style. The "wood chopping" style is full, power swings coming from behind the shoulder. For max power I roll with my hips, lower back, lats and shoulders, forearms and wrists. I do it off both shoulders. That is, so many off one shoulder and then I switch to the other shoulder. The "firefighters" swing is more like a golf swing hitting low and coming up. The way the firefighters do it in their competitons. Over the years this has given me tremendous power in my upper body, shoulders, hands and forearms. I can swing my hammers for hours on end and sometimes do, although I don't generally have that much time. So I will shoot for 30-45 minutes most of the time. This is the only article I have come across on Sledge Hammer Swinging. Nice work.
