If excessive protien is harmful, why would you consume 200g/day?? for a woman this is excessive. From a stricly medical stand point you would "Need" at most .8-1.2g/ KILOGRAM, not pound.

I just go threw a lecture on Protein consumtion and could barely sit still. high protien leaches calcium, overly stresses the kidney yadda yadda yadda.

If allthis is true, and americans eat way too much protein why isn't there a kidney failure epidemic going rampant? why isn't every tom dick and hary winding up with osteoperosis from calcium loss??

300 grams of carbs from green veggies??? That's 1200 calories per day from green vegetables??

Plus, you mention another 500-600 grams of carbs. That's another 2000-2400 calories per day in just carbs.

You eat 3200-3600 calories per day in carbs alone????

Eric,
I just reread the article. She is saying up to 300 grams of each of the "threee" carb groups....simple, complex and fibruous. And that equates to 3200 calories worth of carbs per day. What female in fitness can eat 3200 grams of carbs on a daily basis. And if there really is one, shouldn't she acknowledge that she is a rarity?

Agreed, Eric. It was probably a mistake. But, a big mistake if someone is following the advice in her article. I'd like to see the writers be more careful about proofing their work before they put it out on the web as expert advice.

Of course, she does mention this is her "off-season" diet but 960g carbs (3840 cal) plus 200g protein (800 cal) plus whatever calories she consumes from fat and she is pushing 5000 calories per day through a 105 pound body. While she may be blessed with a metabolism that can process that amount of calories, I do not think it is terribly responsible to present this diet plan as something any normal person could get away with -- off-season or not.

I'm in complete agreement with you! If I tried pushing 5000 calories through my 125 pound body, I'd be 150 pounds by the end of the month.....and we wouldn't be talking about the addition of 25 pounds of muscle!

And the baked potatoe...

Also, a baked potatoe is NOT a complex carb. It's around the top(if not the highest) G.I rating of all the foods.

Why? it's the same as a normal potato, you're saying potatoes aren't complex carbs?
