Thumbs up Comments on your article...

A few things:
1. Taking creatine and glutamine at the same time is not such a good idea...the active site of the enzyme that uses glutamine and creatine as the substrate is the same and therefore they act as competitive inhibitors to one another...in other words, the receptor that attaches to the creatine also attaches to the glutamine and there are not enuf receptors to be able to handle both amounts...as a result some of it ("it" being the creatine or glutamine) is wasted...I suggest take one pre-workout and one post-workout

2. You have a good amount of BCAA's (leucine, valine, isoleucine) already in the Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein (as well as glutamine) so more is not really necessary (but if you think you need it, do it!)

3. Another good preworkout mini-meal when you get up is a slice or two of whole wheat toast or a bagel (some refined sugars, yes, but better than working out on an empty stomach) with some sugar free strawberry jam topped with half of a banana and a 1/2-1 serving of whey protein in fat free milk (if that wont upset your stomach- it doesnt bother mine)

Overall, im really glad i read your article- very informative!

Any comments to my comments?

Aaron
PS...thanks Dan for the additional info

Wow Layne. I thought you thought glutamine was worthless as a supplement?

bro, this article is about 2 year old. Since then i changed my views on glutamine.

You will find that I am not as stubborn as most when it comes to changing my views on things. If someone can show me unbiased conclusive evidence; then i'm more than willing to adapt my thinking

1) not the case and this is a common misconception. both glutamine & creatine use sodium transporters; but they both have different receptors... it just so happens both are dependant on sodium for transport. THEY DO NOT COMPETE FOR CELLULAR UPTAKE. There are literally dozens (probably hundreds) of different sodium dependant transporters.

2)free form amino acids have much different physiological effects than peptide bonded BCAA residues found in protein.

Thanks for reading
