good article
Very informative tips. I agree 100%. Too many people think that some new off the wall fad is the way to go. People should keep it simple, consume less calories than you burn, keep your protein up. Consuming good fats a great tip. I am dieting for a show and without my daily 4 tablespoons (spread out over the day) of flaxseed oil, my energy would be down and I would not be able to train as hard to burn fat and preserve muscle. Good fats are also good for your joints and keep your testestorone levels elevated (a must for natural bodybuilders). Good fats allow you to cut carbs and get shredded and still have high (relatively) energy levels.
As for training - what philosophy do you believe in for getting shredded - higher reps and lower weight or keeping wth the basic exercises and lifting as heavy as possible for moderate reps. I have tried both and it seems to me that by training heavy I can hold on to muscle. I like to burn the fat through cardio and diet, not by doing Jane Fonda like weight routines.
One last note - I tend to avoid soy products (especially when dieting) because I have read studies that indicate that estrogen levels rise when you consume soy products. Am I wrong?
Again, a very good article. Too many people try to take the easy way out for losing weight by trying the latest off the wall diet fad or pill. What has been proven time and time again is a clean diet in which one consumes less than he/she needs, a solid weight training program, and a cardiovascular program is the most effective way to go. People do know what works, they are just lazy. Matt reminds us again - do not be lazy, work hard, and follow his tips for a leaner physique.
