high school health teacher///very little PE training

I am a wrestling/football coach. The PE teacher and I are having an arguement that turned into a bet. Please help.. I believe that straight leg lifts over exercise the quadradous laborum, thereby causing a shortening and strengthening of the QL. So bent knee leg lifts are the way to go and counter stretching the QL should be done by a 30 degree(?) foreward tilt of the upper body. AM I right or wrong? Ego involved!!
