Angry Accutane Is The Devil

This product should not only not be recommended it should be off the market! Besides the severe physical effects, cracked lips, dry skin, etc, it can cause SEVERE depression and suicidal behavior. I luckily was only cursed with raw and bleeding lips for the 8 months i was on this horror, but i know two people who almost committed suicide while on it, and IT IS BECAUSE OF THIS MEDICINE. Anything that they would put a female on TWO contraceptives while taking, should give you pause.

Accutane is a blessing

Accutane is a blessing. I have taken oral antibiotics in quite high doses for twenty years in a vain attempt to control severe cystic acne. Accutane cleared it up in six weeks, period. Yes I had dry lips, very sore joints, brain pressure and some moodiness but every second of it was worth it and I would do it again. Adolescents probably should be very closely evaluated before being put on it because some are not mentally capable of controlling the mood swings but it has literally transformed my life.

Accutane

I would just like to say that Accutane (Roaccutane in UK) was a god send to me. I have suffered since the age of 10 with acne. (My mother had a bad record too, so its definately genetic).
I tried all types of creams and washes from my doctor, some coal tar based and some were actual pre-surgical washes that they use in hospital. But they didn't really calm it down in my teenage years.
Also various antibiotics (Tetracycline etc) but again these didn't really tackle it.
I had the cystic version of acne. They would come up in two days and take 3 weeks to go. It was a painful puss filled hell.
Confidence was zero and I felt like I wanted to hide away.
But a 6 month course prescribed by the dermatology dept at my hopsital (you can only get accutane from a specialist in the UK), really helped. I think it was when I was 14 or 15.
My back completely cleared and I only suffered from some dryness and a few joint aches (I still managed to run 6 miles a day tho').
The situation definately got better. I had a little flare up in my 20s and had another 6 month course and had only dryness again. Lost a bit of weight too as I couldn't drink the Guinness on the medication.
Now I'm 32 and I still get the odd one now and again, but I use Tea Tree oil washes and lotions and this stuff really zaps them.
Accutane worked for me, but maybe it isn't right for everyone.
But like any medication know the side effects and if you have any doubts or worries, STOP and see your doctor.
I was lucky that I didn't have any great side effects, but a bit of dry skin was 100X better than life with my little puss chums.
One last word about the depression/Suicide arguements, I felt ok on the drug but the one thing that is guarenteed to make you depressed is the severe acne in the first place, espcially in the teenage years when you are more susceptable to darker hormonal moods.
For me the link was acne=depression not accutane=depression.
Accutane was the light at the end of the tunnel.
