The mistake I was referring to with the military press is when people are pressing the weight above their head and let their pelvis move out of line with their back. So their spine is now curved rather than straight (would be comparable to the convex surface shape at the following site:

The important thing to remember when you are doing this exercise is to keep your intire body in alighment, so you do not put any extra stress on the vertebrae in your back.
