interesting concept but...

in practical application it appears as though the TUL/TUT is not enough for the heavier - also the final set of 20 reps is extremely fatiguing for the compound movements unless using an inconsequential amount of weight - it is a FOUR MINUTE set! Although from the sheer stress the muscle may react with some hypertrophy, I think this type of set would cause unnecessary trauma to connective tissue! Is there anyone who has successfully used and benefitted from this program?

gonna give it a go....

Yep i saw some flaws with this but want to try it. I think many variables may need to be 'tweaked', such as intensity. It may not be necessary to go absolutely balls to the walls with going to failure in particualr the 20rep set. But i do like the idea of the tempo, this way u really are recruiting and fatiguing (to some degree depending on how far u take the set) the slow twitch fibres. I think possibly all out on the 20 reps sets will only be necessary on 1 workout once every 3-4 weeks (akin to an intenseity set). It has been proven to my knowledge that depending on yer genetic make up going all out all the time can not only be demanding but counterproductive (ie too much for the nervous system).

Oh and i have heard of eccentric sets followed by heavy concentric sets followed again by eccentric etc before. It was called 'The Neuro-Drive' program and was thought to have originated in Russia in the 1960's. Yes it DOES work and very well. Just see for yerself, after having done one eccentric set the following set feels 'lighter' and possibly more comfortable and cleaner rep (although perhaps not able to always perform with more reps than expected) than doing the set without the eccentric set prior.

I think i will give it a bash and throw in some specific arm work followed in the fashion outlined (as they are my weak link). Will keep you posted.
