Interesting theory. But why depend on protein for glucose (via glucogenesis)? Why not just eat some carbs? IMO protein in that excess is just expensive carbs anyway! Not to mention hard on the liver. I'm sure one would gain mass on this type of diet, given calorie consumption is high enough. But I'm sure one would with a more balanced diet as well, and with less strain on the liver. Face it - insulin will shuttle excess energy into muscle and fat cells, to one degree or another.
