stewdiny will become famous soon enough. (+50)
I'm an young officer with the IPD (Indianapolis Police Department) and he points out crucial part many officers over look, TRAIN your lower back and abs often! Your body will thank you after a few years on duty. All you need is a medicine ball and body ball; they are perfect for abdominal and lower back training and require minimal time before row call.

For cardiovascular training I do wind sprints three times a week with a weighted running vest on, and let me tell you it helps so much. I rarely find punks who can out run me.

We need to trade meal plans we use while on duty sometime.

uhh...good point.

anyways, good article, author walks the talk we can plainly see. Imagine all the money taxpayers could save if all cops looked like him (more productivity, less doughnuts, less footrace getaways etc.). Cops that live this lifestyle are probably more cool under the collar during domestic calls or when things get tough because they have an outlet for their stress. However, can hernias be prevented? it seems hernias are par for the course w/ many seasoned bdybldrs w/ lots of ab work or little.

This article is good if you want to be a bber, otherwise it's garbage. Cops need functional strength.

Agreed. Although it is great to see a dedication to fitness I would love to see some functional combat fitness type workouts added in at least once a week. Also, I believe the cardio should have some high intensity, short duration interval training added in to address the needs in a combat/short range foot chase type of situation. Not to take away from the obvious dedication to physical training that you have, just some constructive comments.
