In this article, the author notes that one of the drawbacks of a very low carb diet is that the individual may experience 'slightly lowered energy levels'... RUBBISH!
The word, considerably lowered energy levels would be a more accurate description, and not only during the day, but when at the gym... My capacity to study, work and concentrate was compromised. This goes without saying that I was not eating too few calories, and I was eating good healthy high protein meals, with all good fats, no saturated rubbish...
ANOTHER draw back omitted from this article is that very low carb diets are by nature very low in fiber, producing a lack of regularity in individuals, runny inconsistent stools, and digestive irritation. Individuals also tend to suffer from halitosis due to the excessive ketones.
Also, very low carb diets are socially difficult as well... Sure my body is a temple and all that usual mantra, but eating at a restaurant becomes frustrating, having a bear with friends is a no no!!
TO be honest, I look after my body very well, but if I am out with friends/family at a French restaurant with all the fatty buttery sauces one could poke a stick at, I am not about to say no to a delicious pastry because of the 'evil' carbs... Life is based around satisfaction in the presence of moderation, NOT extreme diets that eliminate entire food groups! I refer you to the French Paradox!
The reality is very low carb diets are hard to stick to, often-making people irritable, with minimal selection of suitable food...
