Nice article on energy systems. There is one big mistake though that people should be aware of. Every pound extra of muscle does not burn an extra 50 kcalories per day. The current estimates are in the neighborhood of 6 calories per day.

It certainly would be nice if it was 50 calories per day though... Imagine someone busting butt for a year and gaining 25 lbs of lean body mass. Their maintenance calories would jump 1500 calories a day! Imagine how much you would have to stuff your face just to keep your current weight. Also current maintenance calorie estimate formulas (such as 15 X BW) would be way off if that was the case.

filtert is on a distinguished road. (+10)
little research done here

The laws of thermodynamics have little to do with fat loss & food. Calories are not all the same if they come from different foods, that is the basis of the Atkins diet, which works for me. It is a real mistake to say that aerobic exercise is not effective because it does not burn much fuel. The idea is to stimulate the body to burn fat after the exercise is over.
