Transformations - Transformation Of The Week - Carole Ingram!

I knew I was in desperate shape! I felt awful and I was ashamed of my body and it was showing in my mental attitude. Well I was determined not to let myself get down this time. I want to feel sexy again. See below how my transformation came about.

Carol,

Well done! The pictures don't lie. After reading your article, I wondered how your strengh improved? Your numbers indicate a 12 lbs gain in muscle over 3 months.
That is extrodinary!

My strength has improved dramatically! For instance, in the beginning, I could barely leg press 180 lbs, by the end of my program I was up to 320 lbs. Also, as for my cardiovascular endurance, when I first started I could barely get 1.6 miles under 20 minutes on the treadmill, by the end of my program, I could run 2 miles under 17:00 minutes. As of last week, I was able to run 2 miles under 15:42 seconds.

My blood pressure was at about 118 / 78 Heart Rate: 78 ----- Today: 113 / 58 Heart Rate: 50. My heart rate and blood pressure was taken during the daytime and not in the morning (to have an accurate HR measurement, you must do it first thing in the morning before getting out of bed).

12 lbs muscle gain is quite an accomplishment, it’s hard to believe, but I truly did it (these numbers are only as accurate as my start and end measurements, but I feel confident that they are and I stand by them)! It’s very possible to gain muscle mass and lose bodyfat at the same time…you just have to pay close attention to your scale and measurements. I didn’t lose more then 2 lbs a week, otherwise, I knew there was a chance that I was compromising my muscle mass.

I greatly appreciate your compliments! Sincerely, Carole

One more question

Carole,

How did you decide on this program?
I'm not familiar with this approach where you do several increaingly heavy sets and then drop back to a single set of a related excersize.
Did you consider other approaches? Looks like you were carful to not overtrain since each weight day was interspersed with a cardio day.

From you previous reply, it looks like your program was very effective in building your quads.
To my eye, the biggest change was

1. Body fat reduction
2. More muscle on your quads.
3. Deltoid development

Would you agree?

Thanks

I have heard of this program through Body-for-Life (www.bodyforlife.com). It’s a 12-week Body Transformation Challenge. It’s a straightforward program created by Bill Phillips over 10 years ago! Millions of people have transformed their bodies following his plan and many have successed just as I have.

This is an awesome program and I stand by it! In the beginning, I had days where I was really sore and doing cardio to me just seemed impossible, but I would work through it and it helped a great deal. I didn’t “overtrain” following this program.

Since then, I have changed my routine up a little bit…I’m still following the concept of Body-for-Life but I’m now doing my Arms (Bi’s and Tri’s) the day after my Upper Body Workout (Chest, Shoulders and Back). The reason being is because I was working out so hard, by the time I would get to my bi’s and tri’s, I had very little energy left and I couldn’t focus on them as much as I wanted. So now, I’m doing Bi’s and Tri’s before my HIIT Cardio the following day of my UBWO.

I do agree with the changes: my legs, bodyfat, etc. My weakest point is my back and I’m focusing on getting it stronger. As for my quads, I believe the heavy lifting and running has helped to get them in the shape that they are today… Running helped “lean” my legs down some and stop them from getting “too” bulky, my legs have the tendency of getting big and muscular (I know this due to being a Spinning Instructor several years ago).
