Good call! Much the same thing happenedto me my first year in college, you're lucky to catch it BEFORE you end up there. Theres so much temptation to do NOTHING while your in college. Getting in that mindset now is the best thing that could happen.
Only one thing, if you are really after mass, i would opt against the cable cross overs. When you take alook at the angle and movment of the upper arm, you'll notice tht it is the same exact motion of a DB press minus the elbow flexion. Yes, yor chest has to handle the majority of th weight, but the anteriordelts and serratus anterior also take a large load, so don't think its an "Isolation" movmement. And then compare the amount of weight that is placed on the chest between cross overs and free weight presses and you'll instatnly see where the advantage lies as far as muscle fiber stimulation.
Personally I don't think guys our age should even think about cables machines, or isolation exercise until we're 280lb bohemuths getting ready for Mr. O.
