strange, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone sho could crank out 500lbs for sets of 5 reps and have a small chest....

Good point. However what I was getting at is that people usually train for either strength OR for size, rarely for both. Most of your pro bodybuilders, while posessing awesome strength, rarely lift what would be extremely heavy for them. Gunter Schleirkamp talked about this a while back. What has worked for me is that since I went down a bit in weight and up to 8 reps a set, I have seen a big difference in size gains. Again, this is what has worked for me. Like you said, anyone who can do 8 reps of 500 pounds is unlikely to be small.
