Bodybuilding and the future....

The interview was okay..nothing really ground-breaking and pretty much what I thought it would be.

I wish Mr. Coleman the best.

The one thing that I do find disturbing is that, like most of the bodybuilding pros, they still do not see the bigger picture, and although bodybuilding has always been somewhat of a fringe sport, it is even moreso being pushed back into the "Dark Ages" by the rampant use of drugs, diuretics, GH and Insulin that keep these guys growing bigger and bigger...unrealistically so for the thousands, dare I say millions of teenagers and young adults that seek to emulate Mr. Coleman and the rest of the the big time bodybuilders.

And yes, I know firsthand....yes, it isn't just the drugs, it is the extremely hard training and the rigorous dieting, nutrition and rest that makes the huge muscle growth possible. But there is no denying that the enhancements such as steroids, GH, Insulin and the like do help the body to metabolize the proteins and enable the receptors to enhance muscle growth, and that coupled with a person's genetic potential to add that amount of muscle mass, make it possible for the Coleman's, Cutler's, Dillett's and other massive bodybuilders to achieve that ultra-massive, freaky size.

I myself don't see the pros as a problem...the real issue is not what is going on onstage and on the posing platform, the problem is those thousands of young adults in gyms across the country that think that if they can get enough "juice" into their systems that they will also become as massive as the bodybuilders they idolize, and that is not the case.

I do feel as if the pros DO have a responsibility to inform, teach and educate those up and comers as well as in advertisment and print about the real truth about bodybuilding. And YES I do feel that the Coleman's and Cutler's of bodybuilding should take a stand...they have ENORMOUS influence by virtue of having a huge following in bodybuilding circles. And ironically, if this issue is not addressed, in time that "circle" will diminish to almost nothing. Of course, in this world of "me, me, me!", it probably will never happen.

In any case I myself will continue to lift and love bodybuilding, and will just ignore the remarks made about me being a "roid boy" or "he must be on the juice", although flattering in some way, disturbing in others.....

Note: Give me muscles and symmetry that are obtainable ANYDAY! No, I am not a fan of "Survivor", nor do I like the "ultra-ripped" look... I love muscle mass and the look of full rounded muscle...to a degree! Today's bodybuilders are simply unattractive, mass for the sake of mass, not beauty. Sorry, but there is a point at which a huge bodybuilder becomes too huge! Their physiques becomes distorted, distended and simply looks unhealthy. And then to hear them huffing and puffing onstage, looking like they are at death's door..this is bodybuilding?

Oh well, enough of my ranting and opinion....things will stay as they are until the "Damascus Road" comes along...

And it will....

Mr. Robson, You failed to give us any information in your interview about Ronnie's drug schedule. Where does he get them? How much do they cost a year? What are they? Until these bodybuilders come clean and admit their use of steroids, the public isn't going to believe anything they say in their interviews. Go back and look at Ronnie's early pictures in bodybuilding contests; back when he finished 15th in th the Olympia and compare with the way he looks today. Enough said. Did he suddenly discover some secret training program or some miracle food? I think not. We are in a different time. Steroids in baseball before Congress. Drug testing in the Olympics. National television stations saying they will no longer cover bodybuilding contests until all competitiors are tested. Even Joe Weider came out and said all bodybuilders in top contests are on steroids. Bodybuilders today like Coleman and ball players like Bonds who would like us all to believe they have achieved what they have due to hard work and dedication are only fooling themselves. Professional bodybuilding has become just like professional wrestling. Everyone knows its not real. Joe Weider knew exactly when to sell out his magazine empire and Arnold is now calling for an overhaul of Flex and Muscle Fitness.

pretty powder puff and sorry Ronnie ,Shawn Rays body was the example of true bodybuilding. Bodybuilding for originally based on the athenian ideal not a misproportioned freak show. Your right he believes his own hype thats its training and diet but this is the man who said when he was cop and competing he was drug free lol. Something is wrong with a sport where no one comes from nowhere and wins unlike real sports. I agree bodybuilding is like pro wrestling.

I thought the interview with Coleman was typical of not just bodybuilding, but sports in general. Like someone mentioned previously, it's a me, me, me world. These athletes don't care what effect they have on our youth. Most of them only want the money and the glory by and means necessary. If it's not fighting in the stands, it's some sort of trouble with the law. It's really become pathetic. You can't even watch Tiger play golf without glimpses of him mouthing profanities! We spectators have to take some of the blame. On one hand we condemn these atheletes and their drug use, on the other hand we almost deify them. Sure, we could push for changes in Mr Olympia and the like. Then maybe "smaller more symmetrical" guys would have a chance (note: I wouldn't call Shawn Ray a true example of bodybuilding. He's had his share of juice, I'm sure). But is that really what we want to see? If so, let me know - hell I'd have a chance to be Mr Olympia! Shawn did make a good point. It's getting so now that judges are just voting for the biggest contestant - mass for the sake of mass and that's a real turn-off. I thought Ronnie looked great the first couple of years he won Mr. Olympia. Now he just looks like a freak of nature. No disrespect to Mr. Coleman intended. Steriods or no steriods, it's extremely hard to accomplish what he has - I wish him well. Where do we draw the line? It should be all or nothing - either we're going to condemn or except performance enhancing drugs in pro sports (like we really have a choice). Not passing judement, just hoping to get more discussions started. I too, will be waiting to see who wins the Olympia this year.

I agree with u when u say bodybuilding is all about drugs but if u are saying shawn ray was clean there i disagree with u. Also if drugs only made u big then i am sure ronnie would have had a lot of competition,so lets just give him credit that he does work out his butt.

"I know that in order for something to work for me it has to be extremely powerful. That's because my body-type is complicated and stubborn when it comes to inducing size gains. BSN products finally give me what my body needs to take it to another realm." - Ronnie

So Ronnie is claiming to be a hardgainer? LMAO

I need help

I've followed a drug rehab program and succeeded in not using drugs but miserably failed in keeping my figure. I'm 10 pounds over my normal weight. What can I do?
