Layne Norton - Be In The KNOw About NO!
Products that increase nitric oxide claim to have positive influences on body composition and recovery by increasing blood flow to skeletal muscle. Is that true? Find out here...

Thanks for the article Layne, as I was starting to wonder about NO products myself. I'm really surprised to hear you support them so strongly.
My question is, what NO product would you recommend? You know I'm a fan of EAS, and they're about to release their own NO product called "Nitron 5", but what would you say is the best NO product?
Thanks,
Scott

well i'm biased because i'm sponsored by Primaforce, but their Nitrocharge is a straight di-arginine malate powder, and it has worked very well for me.
Like I said, I just started supporting NO products a few months ago... before that if you do a search for my posts on NO products you will find i actually advised against them until I came across that new research I cited.

I don't know much about NO products. Would you do me a huge favor and check out the NO product by EAS and tell me what you think?
Here's a link to it:
http://register.eas.com/OA_HTML/ibeC...?section=10611
If that doesn't work, I'm sure you can find it on the EAS page by yourself. Here's a list of the ingredients:
Niacin (as nicotinic acid) 100 mg
Arginine Blend (L-Arginine HCl and Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate) 300 mg
Omithine Blend (Omithine HCl and Omithine Alpha Ketoglutarate) 550 mg
Evodia rutecarpa Extract (fruit) 100 mg
Gynostemma Extract (leaf, stem) 100 mg
Gypentoside 98 mg
Black Pepper Extract (fruit) (Bioperine) 5 mg

To be honest I haven't tried any others because i've been very happy with the results on Nitrocharge.
Like I said I am biased though because I am sponsored by primaforce. However, their products is one of the cheapest gram per gram.

Well...
Its a nice article and an interesting use of the research, but there is still a lot of reaching and postulating.
I don't know much about hemodynamics, but the one thing I do know is that the "pump" as a result of resistance exercise is actually ischemia, which would raise a lot of questions about the theory on nutreint delivery.
Secondly, We're still waiting on research that confirms NO supplements increase strenght/muscle mass or other markers of physical performance...

The deal with NO signaling and why you will only see localized responses
Will NO do all of the things that were claimed in this article? Yes. Will supplementation alter NO levels, perhaps...but not really. After reviewing the articles referenced, there is no evidence that NO levels are sustained after any sort of supplementation. Only rapid, transient levels are noticed. NO is a powerfull cell signaling pathway. As such it is under tight regulation. Stimulation of NO also leads to cell death. Think about this. A pharmacological NO donor, that means a drug who gives NO directly, sodium nitroprusside, does not elicit these affects. Think about all of the heart disease patients who are at the gym or in rehab, they are not putting on mass with their workouts. With these NO products being sold, you are being sold the marketing idea only at this point in time. What is in whey protein....l-arginine. Dont waste your hard earned money on a product that scientifically falls short, very short.

true, but lest you forget that many of the anabolic effects of training are transient. (ie amino acid flux into muscle tissue, and the body's own NO synthesis). Just because it is transient does not nessecarily mean it is useless. As far as NO damaging cells go, I suggest you re-read the article, that was the whole point of consuming anti-oxidants along with an NO supplement.
Thank you for your feedback and critique

how is that? i never once mentioned a primaforce product in my article. Scott asked me about what product I recommend. I use nitrocharge and it works fine for me so that's what I recommended. You can think what you like. If I write a creatine article now am I to be disrespected because you think i'm only trying to sell primaforce creatine. I get no kickback from consumer primaforce sales and I am not on payroll.

the only problems i have with it are
1) It is in pill form
2) each serving only has 3g and you'd need to take at least 3 servings to get a really effective dose.
That leaves only 20 effective dose servings per bottle, and at $40 a bottle that's $2 per day. I'd try to find a powder form that's a bit more inexpensive. The product info on the nitrix looks okay, i just don't know how cost effective it is.

Luis, you could at least post under your screen name if you are going to insult me. And I see nothing wrong with what I'm saying. I'm merely defending myself against your unsubstantiated attacks. I have been nothing but truthful with everyone regarding my situation with primaforce. Once again, never once do I mention a product of theirs in any one of my articles. It is interesting that you refuse to let these old disputes die and rather bring them up constantly. Let it go.

Hey Layne sorry to hijack the thread a little, are you going to be on aim anytime soon? I'd like to ask you a few questions about antioxidants, BCAA's and ALA since you are probably one of the few people I know that has more knowledge about them than I do .
Is your aim still *******
PM me with the new one if your using a new one.
