Read it and I'm convinced but the dosage the testers took is pretty damm high compared to the recomended dosage on the bottles being sold even the advanced dosage.

what a one-sided article. If you do ANY digging whatsoever you understand that most of those studies are done with 2 groups.
1- supplemented with bovine colustrum
2- placebo (ie nothing!)
of course the supplemented group gained more mass, they are taking in more protein from the supplement and more total calories.
Additionally, these growth factors that these companies pimp so much are useless to you as a supplement user because they are whole peptides that will be hydrolyzed into the individual amino acids by your digestive tract, thereby removing any activity that the whole protein would have.

I wrote this article. And if you had read the study I published one group supplemented with whey protein and the other group Bovine Colostrum. They took the same amount of each... 60 grams, which is basically like 2 shakes worth.
While the dosages may be higher than what is advertised or sold, the facts are it produces.

my apologies, I missed that part. I am going to get the reference and look at the study protocol. I highly doubt that colustrum has much merrit for skeletal muscle gain. However bovine colustrum in cows helps with gut development, so perhaps ingesting it increases smooth muscle mass in the gut, which can account for the increase in muscle gain. And yes this does happen, it is often why people quickly gain lean body mass when they first start a high protein diet.

Idiotic Supplement
So the marketing of a supplement that claims to enhance immunity. Colostrum is full of immune complexes, true. Are they compatible between species, big false. When you take this substance, the body will recognize these complexes as foreign, and mount its own immune response. It is possible that over time, with enough exposures, and anaphylatic reaction could occur. I woulld not waste any money on this supplement. Want protein, buy protein powder. Want vitamins, buy vitamins. Do buy into idiotic claims.

Thank you. It just gets frustrating on these message boards because there are so many haters out there. My feeling is, you shouldn't believe something works or doesn't work until you try it. And even IF something is just placebo effect, if it helps you, why wouldn't you take it?
To address the other reply, vitamins are vitamins...no matter who or what they are in. If you read the article closely, I wrote that it would have similar effects in cows and humans but in a much smaller ratio. I have looked at many studies on the effects of bovine colostrum supplementation and most report some gain in lean muslce in comparison to placebo, or whey protein.

If you critically read all of the articles on PUBMED on bovine colostrum, you will realize that they all are seriously flawed. When performing their experiments, most authors are using a non well matched placebo. They are claims to all different ingredients in colostrum, which there are, but they are not controlled for in experiments. Therefore they are going to see a significant effect. The research is not solid to make any decisions. Hence when one shouldn't waste money on it. Perhaps in the future with significant proof, that will change.

trust me, I'm not a hater... I'm just skeptical. I am working on my PhD in nutrional science specializing in amino acid metabolism... so yea I'm skeptical of many supplements
reread those papers... the researchers saw gains in muscle... but did they specify that it was skeletal muscle?
