A little clarifying

I was reading this article, and the following paragraphs just don't make any sense to me, like a sentence or something was cut out:

During the movement keep your elbows directly under the wrists that puts you in a 90-degree angle, which about 90% of you do when benching (see picture below) we call it the so-called bodybuilding benching style.

Not the correct movement but everyone does it and it aggravates the shoulders. Your arm should be at a 45-degree angle. Keep your wrists straight though. Don't cock them or allow them to twist during the exercise. This causes undue stress on the wrist but for extra security use wrist wraps.

So, are the 90% of people WRONG? If the picture is showing an INCORRECT movement, there should be a correct movement shown as well.

I noticed that too. What exactly 45 degrees mean. Picture would be nice.

As a boxer punches are never at the angle of a bench press. More crap from a web site that just wants to sell suplements. Don Mac Neill

I think he is talking about keeping your upper arms are 45deg to the body, not flared out 90deg (perpendicular) to the body.

Thumbs down

This article is poorly written, confusing and unclear.

I think you're right. Thats really the only place I could see holding EITHER a 90 or 45 degree angle.

I'm happy to say I usually am at 45 degrees, mainly BECAUSE I've had rotator cuff issues so my shoulders won't let me do the flared-out thing.
