Is this legit? 34 pounds of muscle in 28 days... it just sounds too good to be true.
Amazing if it is. I'm second guessing my choice to try HST.

Any article with a caption of "How I gained 34 pounds of muscle in 4 weeks" belongs in a tabloid, or a MuscleTech ad. It shouldn't be an article on a legitimate bodybuilding site.
Nice job on lowering the bar.
But hey, maybe the impressionable newbies that read that article will buy some of that 'Universal Real Gains' that you're pimping at the bottom of that page though, right?
You guys and gals should be proud.

34 lbs/28 days = 1.21 lbs per day?
Okay...I am not buying this guys story. Let me guess, he was taking Leukic,
Gakic, Aplodick, Anatordick, and wore "the strap" 24 hours a day and gained an incredible 1.21 pounds of MUSCLE every single day? All with a low volume training system while eating 3 meals of macaroni and cheese each day. He must have read this out of Schwarzenneger's Bodybuilding Bible? Oh wait..no he didn't because this is total bull. The only way I see someone putting on weight anywhere close to this would be if they had previously been pretty big and could rely on muscle memory, and did a BIG cycle, trained a LOT, and ate a LOT, and had genetics that were a little better than average. I would believe it then, though I would still be a bit skeptical of the time frame. Gaining 1.21 pounds of nothing but muscle every day is pretty much impossible from my experience. The body just doesn't do that.
A note for people who are brand new to lifting, and are excited about looking like this guy did in "28 days", please do not think that this is common and that there is something wrong with you. These kind of results are going to take more like 6 months to a year with a dedicated system of diet and exercise.

This article seriously had me somewhere between confounded, excited, and majorly depressed... but I should have known it was too good to be true. I'm almost completely sure you're right. But why am I caring, I knew that transforming one's body was hard work and that is part of the appeal. It's totally worth it to do it honestly with hard work.
Thank you for being the voice of reason, and thanks for specifically putting this out here to beginners.

RE: From Geek To Freak: How I Gained 34 Lbs. Of Muscle In 4 Weeks!
this guy either is or has been on steroids pure and simple, no one puts on that much muscle in one month without the use of roids! i dont care if he has better genetics than ronnie coleman, that kind of transformation is just is not naturally possible.

Did anyone notice the title of this guys book? Apparently there's also some magic way to get wealthy by working only four hours a week. Next to come -- the 4.0 GPA with only 10 minutes of studying a week!

Sure, why not?
Okay, I believe he could have done it. Now, before anyone starts flaming me, hear me out.
Prior to starting in the gym last year, I was well below even my "normal" weight. I was eating very little, eating very poorly, and didn't get enough rest.
When I began lifting, I changed everything at once. I changed my diet, my sleep patterns, my activity levels... All of it, at once. I came close to what this guy is saying. I put on approximately 21lbs in a 1 month period.
Bear this in mind. He was NOT strength training before. He was below his normal weight to begin with, so his body wanted to put weight on. He doesn't mention ANYTHING about his diet prior to starting this regimen.
It's possible, is all I'm saying. It would mean that he changed everything, paying especial attention to nutrient timing, sleeping 8+ hours per night, and lifting harder than most others on this site. :P
It's unlikely, but it *is* possible.
All that being said, I still call bull****.

Yea... sure... and my mom went from 270 pounds to 130 pounds in 1 month eating nothing but chocolate cake
If he would have written 1 year it would have been credible and realistic but come on. Anyone dumb enough to believe that crap probably deserves to be ripped off.
Let's see... if his claim were true, every guy I meet would be buffed, no one would need to train more than a year to become a 400 pounds monster and the strongest guys in the world would be suckers and know nothing about training.
Not even the biggest genetic freak in the world, using the best drugs, on a powerlifter diet and using all the best supplements would be able to gain 30 pounds of muscle in a bulking month. Even less loose fat while doing it
For that article to be on the front page like this proves Bodybuilding.com has a total absence of moral integrity. I wonder how much that guy paid them for this?

Keepin' em honest
Well, I guess all of this outrage caused them to pull that article off the front page. I don't blame them though, its summer, and that means every guy is looking for a fast way to look good...so this guys story is an awesome motivator for people to get on this site, buy some supplements, buy the guys 4 hour work week book, and turn into...well, basically a millionaire- shredded- stud in just 4.5 hours per week! I'm so stupid! I've been working out 5 hours a week and working 50 just to be the mediocre me! WOW I've REALLY wasted some time...

Perhaps he starved himself for months before, lost all muscle and fat, and drained his body of water and glycogen. He then started eating and put on that much weight- but I still don't see how he looks so much better in the 2nd picture.

It might just be me but surely he would look even more different beginning to end if he had put on 34lb, i mean when you bear in mind he is hairy, pale and possibly not fully tensed in the first and the opposite in the second i think he should look bigger.
Might be wrong as im not exactly a vet lol.
