Tisha Rodrigues - Lying To Myself: My Journey To Discovering The Power Of Health & Fi

If there is one thing I can say about myself, to those who do not know me, is that I am honest. I am far from phony or catty and I am not going to lie to you... We all have skeleton's in our closet. Mine could have killed me.

I just finished reading your article and can I say congratulations on coming fourth with that? If I have ever seen courage it is in your words. I hope you get all you desire in your life, that was beautiful.

Sad Truth...

It is indeed a sad truth that today's girls are subjected to unrealistic, unhealthy, and (in my opinion) unattractive standards of the ideal female figure.

I'm glad to hear that you've conquered those demons and have become a true example of beauty, health, and strength. Your determination and hard work have certainly paid off.

Thank you for sharing such a personal story with us. All the best to you.

Thumbs up Thanks for the Honesty

I was rather surprised when I read this story. By looking at TR upon first glance, and seeing how healthy she looks ... I never would have guessed in a million years that she had such an illness in her past. I am so happy to see Tisha speaking out on the false images that magazines project to our young people, afterall that's where it starts. It's all about image and if you don't 'look' a certain way, you have no value.

Thanks Tisha for sharing yet another important piece of the puzzle. You will make a difference!

Interesting.

I just want to thank everyone for the e-mails and shared stories. The purpose of coming clean with this article was to help people who are presently struggling with any type of eating disorder or who have dealt with one in the past to hopefully get help or pass their story on....Your responses have been overwhelming, but in a good way, thank u Take care/Stay Fit/Be True* www.Tishafit.com

Thumbs up Inspired

Dear Tisha,

Congratulations on another great article and on your personal success described here. If not for anyone else, your struggle and triumphs should do wonders for inspiring your children to stay focused and overcome all challenges as they arise. A genuine role model!

Tisha,
I just wanted to thank you for the article that you wrote here. My roomate in college was anorexic and as hard as it was to watch her and feel absolutely helpless, it was equally as hard to see her and be emotionally "okay" myself. I figured that if she thought her 5 foot 90 pound body was overweight, she had to have thought my 5 foot 5, 125 pound body was ENORMOUS!!! It was very hard for me to deal with my own emotions and still try to be there for her when she needed me. I can remember times when we'd highlight our hair together and stuff, and I would literally pull clumps out of her head because her hair was falling out. But, I can say that today she is doing much better. She is much healthier and MUCH more fun to be around now that she is being herself!!! It is comforting to know that there are others out there who have gone through such an ordeal, and are making the most of their lives now and becoming the best that they can be. You are such an encouragement!! Thank you for being so willing to share your story!!!

Talking Thank you

Thank you and everyone who has e-mailed me, STILL e-mailing me on this article. It feels really good to know that while writing this article has allowed me to release so much built up tension towards the subject, I have alos helped out so many women dealing with similar eating disorders. That makes it very much worth putting myself out there and being open to criticism and accusations that I am still sick. Thank you. Take care/Stay Fit/Be True* Tisha
