bad article...20 reppers will overtrain the CNS in matter of a couple workouts. furthermore, the routine does not allow enough time for low back recovery...and over time can/will result in a low back injury.

HIT is probably the best way for a natural builder to train..but..I would not recommend this program.

Bubo will become famous soon enough. (+50)
I can personally not recommend this twice a week squatting, because I have done it.

I have found that it is OK, just to shock the crap out of your body once in awhile, but for a week in and week out routine? Yuck!

For a natural lifter squatting twice a week all the time makes it just too dam easy to over train.

Instead Deadlift and Squat the same week.

If you do those two right, they should be more than enough for ya.

Be sure to mix up the heavy sets with high reps sets.

Keep dem muscles of guard.

This is an article that should never have been posted. It does not tell anyone anything about setting up a program to do squats or how this program has shown any improvement in use. This is an article about what someone says they are going to do and a description about how tough he thinks he is.

Is it even possible to put on 30 pounds of muscle in one year? Even if is, do it and then report how you accomplished it. Just another wannabe talking smack about what he is going to do.

Want visible abs? Loose fat.

20+ rep squats, men into monsters

i have read the reviews about this gentlemans sqauatting experience and i must admit im very surprised by the underlying theme of them all. YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF PUSSIES, ARE THERE NO REAL ATHLETES LEFT! if you people cannot get the mental toughness required to do a 20 rep set of squats then you will never understand the purpose of the article. forget about overtraining it is not necessary to screw up your present bodybuilding routine 1 all out set (20 reps) of balls to the wall squatting will fit any with any training schedule once a week. it will turn boys into men and men into monsters it you doubt it **** off, you have already failed by dismissing something that is far beyond you. stick with your current leg presses and extentions and keep telling your self you are training hard. i currently perform 20 reps with 450 lbs in the squat once a week. i have also done 53 reps with 300 lbs and i have done this naturally. im 5 foot 6 and weight 220 lbs. i have no where reached my peak yet, im 28 years old and i dont use knee wraps. high rep squatting builds mental and physical conditioning like no other exercise. for all the believes who are reading this i truely wish you well. always believe

20 rep Squats

I have been doing 20 rep squats for a few weeks now. I usually do 3 sets consisting of 20reps, 15 reps, and 10 reps. I can only perform 10 by the end because the first 20 usually fry my legs. Most the time I start my workout with squats but I'll mix it up when I'm bored. I add 5 pounds each workout and rest two days in between my workouts.

You dont wont to lift legs twice a week cuz it hurts cuz your scared of overtraining and dont wont to hurt your back get out of the weight room and go join the chess club if you use right technique you wont kill your back

So overtrained

You failed to graps the essential point of HIT. You posted a picture of Mentzer and then launched into discussions of a 4 day split, with squats twice a week. That is ludicrous!

If you follow HIT principles correctly, not only will you not want to workout four days a week, you won't be able to do so.

Your leg workout should be, perhaps, along these lines:

20 reps on Leg Press machine, with last few forced and a final negative only.

20 reps on leg extension, with last few forced and a final negative only.

Hypothetical 20 rep squat (to failure, that is all)

If you are deadlifting on your back day (and you should be, as deadlifts are every bit as important as squats for overall mass and strength), these three sets, plus a good set of calf work and some abs, will be enough to keep you out of the gym for about 3-4 days, and you will need the time to heal.

If you read Mentzer, you need to understand that he felt split routines were counterproductive in espousing that, since it was a different muscle group being worked sequentially, the body could repair damage done to other muscles while still allowing effective workouts for other bodyparts.

The most important aspects of HIT are Intensity (to failure and beyond), Brevity, and Recuperation.
