You're doing the same thing Layne Norton does, citing someone elses research.

I'm not clear on the deliniations you seek to achieve Clayton. You seem to be saying that an optimum sitation is one whereby the commited action is both produced by way of conditioning while the subject is stictly focused on something like his heartbeat? THus leading to a form of vicarious consciousness?....

Why not focus on the form itself as the Idea as this would achieve the same goal?

THus, mediation and lifting could be merged and time saved

You are correct when you say that one could focus on form, but in my experience with clients, and myself, i find it is helpfull to get used to the bodies signals. Too often, it can be easy to lose sight of the fact that form and the mind body connection are imperative. Often, the focus becomes how much weight one can lift. I find that if people slow down and focus on the ever-present signal of the heartbeat, one can develop an overall awareness of the body and its signals.

For you and I and other experienced bodybuilders, focusing on form is a kind of semi-meditation. For those not used to the bodybuilding process, i find that other steps are often neccessary.

Good point though. Im glad that you, unlike some other folks who post, actually read and thought about the article. It seems that the message boards are littered with rude people nowdays. Unfortunatley, they are never short on uninformed and unsolicited advice. I enjoy your perspective and find it refreshing. I salute you for it!
