Why would the government want to make america healthier when they get Billions and billions a year from the medical world.

I can assure you that the pharmicutical companies aren't going to want to see a healthy america.

This is sort of an odd article. I don't think the fitness aspect has anything to do with politics. Sure, we are paying through our a**es for health care costs and a lot could be solved by america losing some weight as a nation. But in an age when the president has so much else to worry about, of course fitness won't be their first priority. I firmly believe that it is the responsibility of the individual to get off the couch and do something. There isn't really anything the president can do short of making television illegal to get people off their couches in my opinion.

It's a good article if you sport socialist sentiments. Otherwise 2 thumbs down.

[quote] I firmly believe that it is the responsibility of the individual to get off the couch and do something. [quote/]

It is the responsibility of the individual to take action, but how can that individual take the necessary action when it is the government who has a big hand in creating the obesity problem in america?

For example, the whole food guide pyramid is f*cked up backwards. Who the hell needs 11 servings of carbohydrates anyways? Not us, but the Agricultural Department who created the food pyramid sure would like us to consume that much. Afterall, our farmers need to make some cash too right?

And no, the President cannot do anything at this point to spur americans off the couch. But, it is partly, a big part, the goverments fault for creating this crap hole a lot of americans are in. Therefore, they should begin to sponser programs, psa's, etc. that will get more of us to go for the healthier body inside all of us.

We're all stuck in one, sick, vicious cycle of death and deceit.

sounds like you think the government might be stupid? All the more reason to keep them out of the whole situation....
