Jim Brewster - Coming Back After A 5-Year Layoff When You're Near 50 - Part Two!

My first article was about coming back to bodybuilding after a 5-year lay off at 47 years old and the routine and supplement schedules I used. As an older bodybuilder, I find I need to keep my work outs to about 45 minutes, this lets me train my hardest and doesn't dip too much into my recovery abilities. Learn why and how to make gains after 40!

Any reason why you went quickly into the prohormone cycles? Second, how much muscle memory do you think the weight/size gain is? I was pretty similiar to yourself, really getting back into lifting near 40 years old. The first year was mostly a return to old size and strength. New size after that. Just wondering what some of your thoughts are about the above.

The prohormones came out during my 5 year lay -off and, as I learned more about them, they sounded like just the thing to get the gains going. You need to understand, a snail makes faster gains then I do, so I needed an advantage. The muscle memory? All that happened in the initial 3 months because in that time, I got back to my former size. Again, I was never huge, which is one of the reasons I took the lay-off. I should add that, as a totally natural lifter, I wouldn't see the type of gains steriods provided anyway, which indicates the kind of size I had. Let me know if there's anything more I can tell you.

Thanks for the insight. I felt like Rip Van Winkle as well when I came back to serious lifting. I'll probably write about that, but I took a 1 1/2 year wait to try a 1AD cycle and wasn't impressed with the results. I had regained my old size and strength by then and the "new muscle" gains were not there on a cycle.

I was only going to use 1AD as well, but then I read the 'Prohormone Science" series on BB.com and decided to stack it with 4 AD. For whatever reason, this combination, one of each 3x a day, really worked, and believe me, I've tried alot of supplements over the years. Right now, I'm doing a new cycle at stronger doages, I have high hopes about it. If you ever try it agian, I would definitely satck it with the 4AD.
