" Depending on how much you lift, squats and deadlifts are good for building muscle mass because you're adding weight in order to build muscle. Lunges do sculpt, while elongating leg muscles such as hamstrings and quads. "
- Both work your leg muscles the same way. Certain exercises do not lengthen the muscles, length is genetically predetermined. Lunges are simply 1-leg squats if you view just the front leg.

" Doing more reps is not necessarily "better" for
toning and firming. Performing higher reps and less weight burns more fat around the muscle. Toning and firming is achieved by adding higher weights and proper form. "
- Higher reps in no way shape or form burn fat, especially around the target muscle. This goes against human physiology. It is total caloric output that burns fat, not high reps. Tone is simply the ability of a muscle to maintain a slightly contracted, or firm, position when not being used.

I hope those quotes from Carmen were to show the myths surrounding women's fitness and not meant to be taken literally.
