I didn't like this article. First of all it assumes that because people are having a high protein diet then your diet is also high in saturated fat. It uses hamburgers as an example of a high protein food yet most bodybuilders will choose low fat sources of protein such as tuna, skinless chicken and turkey etc.

According to the protein requirements we only need 0.36g of protein per pound of bodyweight which even massively understates the protein requirements found by Lemon 1995 and 1996 which were peer reviewed studies. We aren't sedentary individuals.

The article then goes on to lose me as it says that the only reason people lose weight on a high protein diet is because of water loss. I guess the article must be talking about an Atkins type diet now but with no reference to this type of diet.

The article also talks about medical reference with regard to high protein diets causing a loss of the mineral calcium but it doesn't provide any references. I would like to point out to any beginners reading this that a quality whey supplement is likely to be high in calcium anyway.
