Im sorry, but your article was a load of rubbish. I am not saying the information was innacurate, but your blaintant plugging of products and supplements was pathetic.
After all your raving about the importance of having blood tests done, you then turn around and write that you didn't fast, hence effecting your test which you paid good money for.
Secondaly, i also noticed you failed to mention Blood Glucose levels, do you not consider this important?? or in your haste to plug your products you forgot to mention this important information?
What a farce that was! Please spare us in future.

Your lack of science knowledge and level of ignorance, combined with poor reading skills, should make your parents proud. Not sure where to start here.
(1) fasting effects blood lipids (as stated clearly in the article) not the other tests.
(2) As the article states, over 80 tests were done. Blood glucose was one, but was not added to the article as it's not an article about BG.
(3) I sell no supplements and plugged no supplements, other then the fact I personally take DHEA, and I didn't even name the brand i use. There were a few links added to the article by bb.com to supps sold on bb.com. I have no connection to that.
(4) your reading skills suck.
(5) I suggest you never ever read anything of mine again as to save yourself from my farce like articles.
Good luck.

For me nothing actually (it's good to be me some times!), but without insurance, it would be expensive for that many tests to be sure. Of course a person could narry down to a handful of tests they were interested in and probably pay no more then a few hundred I would think. Different states, different labs, etc. have different prices so it's really hard to say.

For someone who didn't have insurance, what would you say would be some of the more important blood tests to get?

That would depend on what your interest/focus was. For bb-ing issues, I would say at least the major hormones that dictate metabolism and can be looked at in a single blood draw. Total T, free T, IGF-1, and thyroid panel. GH, cortisol, and insulin are transiant hormones so you have to be hooked up for hours or longer to get a real picture of those and thats just not realistic.

For anyone interested, I saw a recent ad (can't remember which mag) by the LEF for blood testing, running at $300, IIRC. Not chump change, to be sure, but probably less than some of us are spending on dubious supplements every year. They provide you with a local lab for blood drawing, and send you the results.

Which, as the article states, is who I used (the LEF).
