In order to see maximum benefits, you would need to take a lot of glutamine in oral form- at least 10g a day, probably closer to 20. For a month's supply of glutamine (600g) you're going to have to spend at least 25.00, maybe more. Until manafacturers can make their glutamine cheaper, then IMO it's not cost-effective.
Another factor is that you can get a lot of free form glutamine from food already.
I think supping with glutamine is beneficial, but from a cost-effectiveness stance, I don't think it's a good value at this time.
To me, it boils down to affordability, balanced with effectiveness. When you have to spend money every month on protein, creatine, and other supps you have to be mindful of the value you are getting.
That said, I have experienced good results with it; muscle soreness has been reduced, and recovery has improved. For now, i'm getting most of my glutamine from ON 100% whey.
