This seems adequate training for preseason. However, I think more emphasis should be put on the conditioning of recovery time in between sprints/ runs. Having played rugby for 15 years and currently playing semi professional rugby whilst studying i have seen over the years that this area of training has the most benefit during games.

A note to remember. No matter how much preseason training you do, you will still feel f***ed after your first few games!!

i agree entirely. You will feel used and abused after your first few games of the season. What I found funny was this line from the article

"Weight training is potentially dangerous and requires great care"

Um??? What a great sentence on a bodybuilding web-site. First off...you young ruggers better get your asses in the gym and hit the weights. Or else...good luck holding up a maul with your broom stick legs. You can't ruck over if you do not have adequate strength to keep your opponents off the ball. Do wind sprints...that was great advice in the article. for those just starting to play...rugby is not similar to football when it comes to cardiovascular conditioning. The game does not break to call another play...you pretty much run non stop.
