Disagree
I do not think that "The Eat Right for your Blood Type Diet" should be taken into consideration for the average bodybuilder. I disagree with Charles after reading the brief defence of Dr. D'Adamo.
There is more then enough confusion about proper dietary habits in the general public and the "supplement industry educated" bodybuilding populice. I train many people and there is one major rule-KISS-Keep it simple stupid. This "diet" is just another confusing factor for the average bodybuilder.
Charles talks about his own subjective success with the diet and I am not surprised. He is O bloodtype. I am O bloodtype. Big surprise -Dr. D'Adamo claims that as many as 75% of North Americans are O. And the O diet is a generally healthy, low processed carb way of eating. Sure eat veggies, fruit, beef and take your b vitamins. I followed it for five years (I love pineapple) before realizing that whole wheat is okay! I do not suffer from Celiac disease.
However for the other 3 "types" his recommendations and food avoidances could definitly be detrimental to the average bodybuilder. Cutting out chicken and low fat dairy is not a good first step towards a sound eating plan. Making such general statements about personality and exercise based on blood type is ludicrous - with all the hyper specalized forms of exercise today -and everyone being genetically individual - not just one of four evolutionary blood types. I would ask what does Charles think of Dr. D'Adamo exercise recommendations? Because I respect Charles training advice as world class-but not his dietary advice after this.
As William James is so often quoted as saying "phenomena are best understood when placed within their series, studied in their germ and in their over-ripe decay, and compared with their exaggerated and degenerated kindred." Lets see this diet in 25 years ( beyond his son writing a book too)
On a personal sad ;note a relative of mine tried to control a very serious health concern with this dietary advice-to their detriment.
Therefore - read a good real bio-chem book or take a university course if you want to learn about your blood and genetics not a fad diet book!!!
