Michael Kurilla - All About Shoulder Pain.

Part I of this two part series will examine shoulder anatomy in sufficient detail to highlight the basis for skeletal variations that can predispose certain individuals to persistent shoulder problems.

Awsome article, read it twice; we need dozens like it, to really understand how the body works, what muscles do what, and how to exercise them; --as well as to get a clue how to prevent injuries. As someone new to bodybuilding at age 46 I can't get enough injury prevention advice. More figures and photos are in order however; I've only a vague notion of what the scapula looks like, just from fighting 'skels' in Diablo, let alone being able to visualize the two humeral tuberosities mentioned.

I'll add rotator cuff exercises to my routine right away, and I'm looking forward to part 2, and how to get to the supraspinatus. I'd also be curious about Mr Kurilla's opinions in other areas of bodybuilding: Nutrition and supplements, like glucosamine and chondroitine, cardio, stretching, whatever.

Though it's my son who is into bodybuilding, I often read here and this was the first place I thought to come to find information on the shoulder pain I've been having. The article was quite informative in narrowing down the area to talk to my doctor about if that need arises. The movements to determine the location of the pain were quite helpful, too.

Excellent writing

Thanks for the simple explaination. There is a tremendous amount to digest but it is presented so well, I believe I have grasped it! Please post Part ll as soon as you can. I have a son who is a pitcher. I have taken him to the best pitching coach in the country but I would like to get your opinion on how best to strengthen his rotator cuff muscles.
