CriticalBench.com - Powerlifting For Football.

I learned a lesson about how strong I really was training for my sophomore football season in college. Find out how in six months I got to be all conference in Division I-AA football as a sophomore and three years later it helped me get to the pros.

Dead lifting for football

I play rugby union for my school and while it is obviously a very different sport to grid iron there are some similarities. Rather than dead lifting for max strength all through our program, we periodize with heavy dead lifts over the off-season but moving to power cleans by pre-season. Cleans are awesome for football performance with the benefits of dead lifts plus the added explosiveness.
