I don't know if this sucralose (Splenda) topic has been revisted on another thread since these postings, but I still want to add my two cents...
If you have always been relatively healthy and suddenly have developed a barrage of symptoms - anything/everything should be suspect...arthritis, other body pains, joint swellings, depression, balance problems, headaches, dizziness...almost anything - either before or after you go to the doctor, try this: if you are on Splenda (sucralose) or aspartame, TRY going for 30 days without ingesting these sweetners in ANYTHING.
This will require you stop putting it on/in stuff, stop drinking soft drinks with it (diet soda and sports drinks), stop sweetening your coffee/tea with it, stop taking protein drinks with it, stop eating sugar-free candies/cookies/cakes, and start reading EVERY ingredient label (even when you think it COULDN'T be in THIS!). REALLY, honestly **STOP** taking it, even a speck of it, in anything you eat or drink. I recently found English Muffins made with it. It was also in a fruit drink too.
During that month WITHOUT sucralose, drink plenty of water and if you must sweeten things, try Xylitol. Then see how you feel in 30 days. If most of your issues go away and your health completely turns around, you may have the answer to your mysterious maladies.
Most people who swear by Splenda (it DOES taste great) and are NOT experiencing any symptoms will interpret what I just wrote as "blah, blah, blah." Doctors, most nutritionists, and countless medical/health-related publications will do the same. But, you know what? It's YOUR body, and you are its best diagnostician, NOT a doctor or the lab tests s/he orders for you. BEFORE you are put on tons of medications and go through weeks, months, or years of endless testings and suffering - just *TRY* this and see what results you get. (You can do anything for 30 days, and you are free to go back to it if you wish.) You lose nothing by trying. You risk EVERYTHING by subjecting your health/body to medications. You are your best detective and researcher.
I went through the equivalent of Dante's Inferno. My health broke down, I experienced incapacitating crippling pain that got worse with time. I cried thinking I surely had either a life-threatening or chronic lifeLONG illness.
Until someone asked me if I used one of those sweetners.
Do your own research on the WEB. People's symptoms and conditions vary. Afflicted individuals have been put on everything from NSAIDs to Prozac. Some thought they were losing their minds, along with their health.
Many people DO metabolize a percentage of sucralose, contrary to what the manufacturers tell you. When sucralose is metabolized, its residues are stored in your fat tissues the same way pesticides (ie DDT) are stored.
YOU may not be experiencing any APPARENT adverse effects - thank your lucky stars, but don't bank on the illusion that internally you are not paying a price. But, maybe you KNOW someone whose health has inexplicably taken a turn for the worse - anything from mild constant headaches to serious debilitating scary symptoms like those seen in MS. Just ASK if they are on sweetners and SUGGEST they do without it for 30 days - then see how they feel in a month. You may be SHOCKED (pleasantly) at the results.
NO, I'm NOT a doctor, and I don't play one on TV OR the Internet. I'm someone who went to H*LL and lived to come back and share my story. You can call it fanaticism, sensationalism, unsubstantiated claims...WHATEVER. I'm just SHARING and challenging folks to take responsibility for their own health - and to find some of their own safe solutions.
If you wanna bash me go ahead. If you want to write to me for more info on MY own experience, please go ahead also. This is my email address:

That IS "soles" and NOT souls. I'm a Reflexologist, hence the name.
Health and Success to all,

PS: I have NO doubt some (most?) will read my post and say "b*llsh*t!!! I have NEVER had a problem with this stuff! It is, TOO, safe!!!"
Uhuh. Again, whatever. To those who might be suffering, or have a loved one suffering, this will make more sense and will seem like something worth trying. Good luck, and feel free to write me with either a contrary view, or a supportive one...
