Probably the other important point to be highlighted is the fact that you have to be governed by what your body is telling you, not by what is written on a training log or a piece of paper. This is not an excuse to slacken off, but recognises the ebbs and flows of physical and psychological stresses and strengths. It can also warn off injuries and burn-out due to over training.
The main point is that you need to achieve the best workout you can at that point in time..not the best workout ever every time. Striking the right balance between dedication and appreciation of your body's limits and energy levels will help to improve results and training in the long term, and to remain injury free.
