I read Torbjorn Akerfeldt's Scientific reasoning to why cardio should be done in the morning and it makes complete sense. Moreover, I have been practicing these techniques for YEARS myself and can definitively verify that muscle catabolism is greatly reduced when working out on an empty stomach AFTER 8 HRS SLEEP. Testosterone is high, cortisol (stress Hormone) is low. I have a pretty well endowed physique. I have to make sure to drink optimal amounts of water frequently and rest after working out and eat properly. I learned to deal with stress positively, there are many in depth factors, not just a black and white answer saying, "There is no way to prevent extreme muscle catobolism after fasting for 8-10hrs"
I just increased my carb consumption from 60-150g/day to 200-400g/day 5 weeks ago, and almost just as ripped as before because I employ these techniques, but monitor myself constantly. My cardio is no longer than 20 min and right before weight training. I am pushing more weight every session, taking ample amounts of rest between sets.
