Myron Mielke - Kai Greene: Is He Olympia Bound!

The wind howled outside my hotel room the night after the 2009 Arnold Classic, I couldn't help but think the winds of change might be blowing. The Mr. Olympia title and the Sandow trophy could be changing hands from Dexter Jackson's to Kai Greene's.

The Year of Greene

I am in full agreement with the author.

If Kai comes in shape and makes any improvement, he will win the 2009 Olympia. Jay and Dexter are fading due to age and the continual grind. In my opinion Phil Heath and Victor will be his main competition. Judging by what I saw on the Flex video of the Olympia competitors at the recent Dexter Jackson Classic, Dexter will be one and done come September. In his comparisons with Heath, he was clearly bested from every conceivable angle. He knew it too and practically ran off stage to get away from Phil. There is no way humanly possible for him to reverse that comparison, bar an injury to Phil in the time remaining. So that leaves Phil and Kai battling for the top spot.

I believe Kai's overall size, presentation, charisma and muscle density will rule the day in September. Although Phil has some of the best arms ever, his back, legs and overall mass are not of Greene's caliber. This coupled with the fact that Greene continually presents the best posing routines ever to grace a bodybuilding stage (ask Ed Corney). When you put it all together, this should put him over the top.

A new era of bodybuilding has arrived. Greene, Health, Wolf and Martinez are leading the charge. Time for the old guard of Cutler, Jackson and Freeman to join Coleman, Yates, et al. as lifetime acheivers and ambassadors of the sport.
