I see a few small problems with this article. First of all, there are a lot of taller male gymnasts. I'm 5'10" or 5'11", my friend who's elite is 6 foot, his brother is 6'2", there's one guy on U of Oklahoma who's 6'3", coach at my school who used to compete internationally is probably pushing 6 foot..My friend who I trained to be competitive is about 6 foot, and there's a lot of college team guys about 5'10" - 6 foot who do gymnastics. Alexei Nemov for Russia, who won a few medals, was also 5'9" or 5'10"..

The main reason why people think all gymnasts are short is because of female gymnastics. Female gymnasts are younger in age usually than male. In female, the older is probably 20 and for male, the oldest is usually about 34 or 35. True, a lot of male gymnasts are on the shorter side, but there are actually many who are normal male sized who compete.

Second thing I see wrong is the "The Type of Training they do" part. Okay, first of all, the leg raise part is totally wrong. The picture shows bending at the knees which isn't even close. We don't bend at the knees..we follow all the way up with straight legs and our feet touch near our hands. They are MUCH harder than what's pictured there.

Step Ups on a bench? Tricep Dips? Lateral Shoulder Raise? I don't know who this guy is who wrote the article, and I'm sorry to be tearing you apart ,but I've never done any of those as a gymnast. hyperextensions are also done on a horse.

Again, I'm sorry to be an ******* about this, but this guy needs to do his research a little more about the training we do because his list of exercises isn't that close.

Thumbs down very poor research, and stereotyping

Ms. Clark may be an educated sports exercise person in a general sense but she does not know anything about gymnastics.

Please do proper research on a topic before writing about it. Even if this was a paper written by a junior high school student the amount of wrong infomation is not excuseable.

Please read a gymnastics coach article for better info.

Mroth86, keep in mind this a bodybuilding website, not a gymnastic website...and obviously your a gymnast so you know more than most..but petty things such as what equipment is used for hyperextensions is irrelevant, the purpose is the same...also the article was geared toward olympic gymnasts, which are predominantly shorter and younger...they werent referring to every single gymnast on every podunk team..obviously there are always exceptions....get over yourself and remember, aside from olympics the majority of the country does not watch gymnastics
