2nd Pastor Resigns Over Gay Sex Scandal
"ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - The founding pastor of a second Colorado church has resigned over gay sex allegations, just weeks after the evangelical community was shaken by the scandal surrounding megachurch leader Ted Haggard.
Haggard, a gay-marriage opponent, admitted to unspecified "sexual immorality" when he resigned last month as president of the National Association of Evangelicals and pastor of the 14,000-member New Life Church in Colorado Springs. A male prostitute had said he had had sex with Haggard for three years.
On Sunday, Paul Barnes, founding pastor of the 2,100-member Grace Chapel in this Denver suburb, told his evangelical congregation in a videotaped message he had had sexual relations with other men and was stepping down.
Dave Palmer, associate pastor of Grace Chapel, told The Denver Post that Barnes confessed to him after the church received a call last week.
The church board of elders accepted Barnes' resignation on Thursday.
On the videotape, which The Post was allowed to view, Barnes told church members: "I have struggled with homosexuality since I was a 5-year-old boy. ... I can't tell you the number of nights I have cried myself to sleep, begging God to take this away."
Barnes, 54, led Grace Chapel for 28 years. He and his wife have two adult children.
Palmer said in a written statement that "While we cannot condone what he has done, we continue to support and love Paul."

Hahahahahaha...
Religious people (especially Evangelical Christians) = biggest hypocrits in the history of humanity.

Also goes to show you that so called spiritual leaders are just big talkers and don't necessarily have any spiritual advancement. This goes for all religions not just Christianity.

I'm what you'd call a born again Christian, and I want to say I agree 100%. This is the danger that Christians face when they put anyone but Jesus Christ on a pedestal... You wind up with the head of the Christian right snorting crystal meth and paying someone to be his butt-boy once a month.
It's a shame that the lunatic fringe of Christianity happens to represent it in the eyes of non-christians. A shame and an embarrassment...

Christians' homophobia, anti-semitic, anti-islamic, conservative, pro-life views are an embarassment.
These episodes, on the other hand, are not an embarassment. They simply confirm that the Christian doctrine is simply hypocritical, unrealistic and goes against the values of the modern Western Civilization.

Thanks for clearing that up for us.
I'm a Christian and I'm not a homophobe, an anti-semite, or anti-Islamic. As a matter of fact I don't know a single Christian (irl) that is. What does that do your massive generalization?
Are you suggesting that meth and male prostitutes are "Western values"? Because they aren't.

No, it means that either those two men made horrible mistakes and need to repent or they weren't believing what they were teaching others in the first place. Their actions have no relevance on the truth of the Gospel.
That was quite the jump you made there.

Right. See, if one pastor is gay that negates the billions of good God-fearing Christians. One act of teh gay > billions of acts of goodness. See how that works in his head? lol

They can believe their own bull****, because they should hopefully understand that these are just men, and men are not perfect. It's not like Haggard putting his schlong up a boy's ass means God and Christianity is suddenley fallible all of a sudden. Perhaps people were beggining to look on pastors as idols or something i don't know and i don't care. You can't really expect a christian to question his beliefs over this.
Haggard and his gay buddies aren't hipocrites imo. I mean i really doubt they were ignorant of the fact that butt-fuking is totally not what God want them to do. I think they understood they were being bad-boys. Too severe to call it double-standards too lol.

Western values of liberty. The freedom to choose what you want to do with your body and your life without having anyone tell you what to do or how to do it. I though the US stood for "freedom" and "liberty" yet you do not allow an 18 year old to drink a beer, but you'll let him shoot a riffle.
Men should not be judged for being attracted to their own sex. They should not be judged for taking whatever drug they wish to take. We are all individuals, with our own power to decide between good and evil; so long as we do not hurt anyone else's rights and freedoms. That to me is freedom and liberty. Christians want to remove these values from our civilization.
Look at the Netherlands where prostitution and some drugs are legal. It is a societal model that has existed for centuries and continues to flourish, while the US model, most agree, seems to be imploding.
That's Christianity for you.
My religion, individual liberties. My own power to think and act accordingly. I have been given this power and this right, I will have no one wave a "sacred book" at me and tell me how I should live my life.

I can tell you've never been to the Netherlands.
The Netherlands is the first place in the world that gives doctors freedom to make the judgment call on whether or not a baby lives or dies, even over the opinion of the mother. The Netherlands is also the first place in the world to allow a doctor to kill an elderly patient.
The Netherlands is not a great place, and you'll see over the next few years the massive problems their social liberties will cause. Drugs are not as free as you think there, first off. There are very specific constraints on their use.
You're going to have to learn to accept that society imposs limitations on your actions. Deal with it, or move to your own island somewhere in the ocean.
Turn off your TV and go live a little, then come back and we'll talk.

Couldn't be more wrong
The freedom to choose what you want to do with your body and your life without having the government telling you what to do or how to do it.

Are you implying those people represent Christianity? If so, you are dead wrong. Those people create situations that they can use in lawsuits so that they can make money. They are also quite insane imo.

Nope, I don't have a pastor. What difference would that make anyway? They sue people for infractions against them from what I have read. Apparently they are one large family for the most part, and many of them are lawyers. They are all as crazy as loons, and as bigoted as you appear to be.

Isn't that what your Christian buddies do about gays? According to you Christians, gay people are all promiscuous, leather-wearing, drug-abusing, pedophiles who are unable to engage in any form of loving stable relationship. As such, gay people should not only be denied the same rights as heterosexuals, but they should be stripped of rights they have acquired and granted to them by more enlightened social and political leaders that lived and ruled before our current much less lucid leaders.

Every single Christian out there hurts me, as their fundamental values are against my very own existence as a gay, atheist, liberal man.
