What's your most embarrassing experience at gym?

I've been benching a heavy weight. I was pushing and pushing but the bar wouldn’t budge. I kept trying, thinking " Sh@t this is heavier than last time" when a guy walked passed and flipped the safety catch off!!
I just thought I had lost allot of strength or something.

One time 4-5 years back I was power cleaning in my gym... no rubber mats, and metal weights. I was using 225 and the left side started to slide toward the end of the bar. The first 45 hit the floor from about 5 feet in the air(I was in the top position) and it sounded like a shotgun going off in the place, of course the other one went... and after that of course, the other side went. All the suburban moms on the elliptical machines were staring at me.

When i squeezed my balls between 3 45s plates doing weighted dips because the chain wasnt long enough and fell on the floor moaning

I ripped one while squating.... it smelled so bad it cleared the gym out!

I love those protein squirts!

Failing grip on a double overhand hold (testing grip strength) and the left side missed the pin. Fell with a crash and hit a 45 that was leaning on the rack which rolled and pushed open the exit door.

Second wasn't in a gym but it relates.
In college I was on the rowing team (crew) for a semester. During practice one morning my shorts kept getting caught in the rails under the seat which brought us to a screeching halt until I dislodged them. After it happened for the 3rd time the coach made me take my shorts off. I had to do the rest of the practice in my skivvies.

Blew the ass out of my shorts while doing squats with a full room of spectators. Needless to say, I finished my set racked the weight and just tied my sweater around my waist and continued my workout. Another embarassing time was when I first started out and got stuck under 135lb bench and this tall lanky guy came a just pulled it off me.

This was embarrassing as well as a little scary.

When I was 18 I worked out at a small gym where some local pro wrestlers would workout on occassion. If you remember the Von Erichs from the WCCW in the 80's, these guys were some leftovers from that organization that hung around until '92 or '93. The only guy I ever worked out with (or near, rather) that anybody might recognize was Gentleman Chris Adams.

Anyway, one day there was a guy working out that I had seen before. His nickname was "Hollywood" something, and he was a strong dude. I had seen him rep 315 on incline bench, which at the time was the most impressive thing I could imagine. As he did some DB curls, I tried to re-rack a 35 lb. plate on the bottom of the tree. He was standing right next to the tree, but I thought I could reach around and slide it on the peg without interrupting him. I should've just waited until he finished the set, but I was an idiot. Right as I got it on the peg, it slipped and fell to the floor. Now it could've fallen back towards the tree, but the damn thing had to lean the other way and ended up falling on the guys leg, scraping right down his ankle. Even worse, the guy was wearing flip-flops.

Needless to say, I almost **** myself. The guy actually finished his set, racked the DB's, and then sat down to assess the damage. The plate had broken the skin, and he was bleeding a little bit. I said, "I'm sorry" about a dozen times in the span of five seconds, but he just looked at me and said, "Don't worry about it. I shouldn't have been standing so close to the tree anyway." Huge sigh of relief.

Back then there weren't three people I'd have rather met than Kevin, Kerry and David. I was going to a Mavericks game when I heard on the radio that David had died. I actually cried (no homo).

You might be thinking of Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson, a Cowboys' LB in the 70's.

Now doesn't seem any worse to me. It was rough indeed.

I think the funniest thing that happened to me involved deadlifts. In my last gym, there wasn't much room for deadlifts. The best spot to do them was right next to a cybex leg press. So I'm doing my deads right? Well, this middle age lady comes over to use the leg press. I go about my thing, trying to wait till she get's off the stupid thing from one of her sets to do one of mine. Well, during one of the heavier pulls, I let one rip. Well, what can I say? It was heavy.

Needless to say, she decided to do a different exercise on the other side of the gym.

I just turned my MP3 player up and kept pulling.

I was doing some kickboxing moves and when I did a front kick my legs slid out in front of me and conked my head almost friggin knocked me out. It was embarrassing.

Good story, Lencho. Don't mess with people doing their curls!

I could write a few here, but one of the more memoriable was the time I snapped the cable while doing tricep pressdowns and proceded to do a sumersault backwards. I usually do the full stack plus adding extra plates to the peg which technically you're really not supposed to do, but luckily on this day I was just using the stack. Needless to say it's the only cable unit in the gym and it was out of service for a bit so many people weren't too happy, but it was funny hearing my gym buddies give me **** about "being too damn strong for the equipment."

Kerry killed himself with a shotgun blast to the chest.

David died in Japan from what the family called a "heart attack". Most people believe the rumors that it was drug-related.

Mike got toxic shock syndrome and nearly died. He never fully recovered from it, got depressed and killed himself by taking some pills and zipping himself up in a sleeping bag.

Chris also committed suicide, I believe by hanging himself.

And, Fritz's first son, Jack Jr., was killed as a youngster when he was shocked by some downed power lines and knocked unconcious. He landed in a puddle of melted snow and drowned.

Poor Fritz. He saw five of his six sons buried.

I fart in the gym all the time. I can't count that as especially embarassing unless it smells bad enough to make your eyes bleed (I do have those, really.)

The horrific dance music in there is generally loud enough to muffle even the loudest gas anyhow.
