Irish People
I am half Irish and German. However, I live in the States. I have been lifting for a long time now and love it. I think that it is the German part of me, but I do not have a hard time putting on mass. On the other hand, cutting up takes some serious effert and even then. So anyway....just thought I would respond.

When the lot of you say half Irish, does that mean you were born in America?
I'll let you in on a secret, if the answer is yes then you are American.

Irish
So, let me get this straight. Just because we may were born in a America, but our ancestors came from Ireland that does not make us Irish? At least our heritage is. Afterall our genes come from some where no matter where that person was born.

My point is being proud of your Americanism. If it was a bad thing, do you think we would come over in the thousands as we do? In addition, many Irish people feel that if you were not born on Irish soil or of Parents from Ireland, then you are not Irish. No elitist statements, just honest talk lads. I also hold dual citizenship and I currently in the American Army (almost 13 yrs now). So, calm down and try not to read too much in to my statement.

Well I'm Irish-American but my wife is from Derry (Limavady), can I hang?
Regarding the above
In one of the very first conversations my wife and I ever had she was kind enough to fill me in that I'm not Irish after all, but a Yank. Funny but I'd been raised all my life to think of myself as Irish, even though I'm born and raised in NY.
She actually laughed when I told her I was Irish.
I bet an Italian from Italy would be confused by an American from Brooklyn telling her he's "Italian".
Irish elitism? Nah. More a matter of perspective really.
YMMV.

I'm a FBI currently living in the States but hail from Donegal.
And just cos I live in America now does that mean ya can pull my card? I don't think so! I may be an American now, but I'll be Irish FOREVER!!!!!
For me it doesn't matter where you are born, if your family comes from Ireleland then you are Irish enough for me!

So your saying im not irish cuzim born in america? Irish is my nationality/heritage American is not. The only true americans are AMERICAN INDIANS as they were the only ones with an American nationality/ heritage.

That is the problem with Americans', they have no sense if their true identity. To say Indians are the only Americans is laughable lad. If you a 3rd generation born American you are not anything but American (which is something to be proud of). I am an Irishman born in Belfast and moved to America, got my citizenship and now I am American, not a real American mind you, but I try.

i love Ireland so much, went there a couple of years ago - south of cork - wish i could remember the name of the village we stayed in but basically all there was for 10 miles was 5 houses, a pub and a post office with a small shop on the side. and we stayed in one of these houses. it was the best holiday ever, cant wait to go back.
kissed the blarney stone aswell, very proud as i always wanted to do this.
anyway hi Ireland!!! (my Grandad was Irish, he was an insiration to me with his crazy humor)
