Is Guiness OK? Anyone drink it?
last night i went for a meal with the family, (Carvery) I had turkey, new potatoes boiled, carrots, cauliflower, Yorkshire pudding, and stuffing balls. I had a pint of water with my dinner, but then decided to have a pint of Guiness. I usually drink lager, but have cut alocohol out altogether (untill lastnight)
I am bulking anyway, so damage will be minimal to me I think. But, does anyone know if this stuff is any good? Its got to be better than lager/beer.

I believe any dark beer contains significantly more nutrients than lighter coloured beers so I would say it is better than lager. Not sure calorie wise, a good head on a Guinness is of course one that you need a knife and fork to get through so it is probably pretty high on the scale
I used to love a pint of Guinness, and don't get me started on Yorkshire pudd......

I was reading an article in a magazine around St. Patty's last year and the article said that Guiness has less calories than Budweiser. I always thought that because Guiness was so thick that it had more cals than other beers. I do believe the lower cals is because it has less alcohol in it though.

Hah. Guinness abroad is nothing like Guinness in Ireland. It's way stronger over here.
Here's some blurb that I got for you.
"Guinness is no more fattening or calorific than any other beer of similar alcoholic strength. The beer has no fat, however it does contain protein, sugar, carbohydrates and alcohol. The alcohol accounts for 65-75% of the calorific content irrespective of the beer in question. Per pint, Draught Guinness has 210 calories; as a reference, one pint of semi-skimmed milk has 260 calories and one pint of orange juice has 220 calories. Draught Guinness actually has fewer calories than most other premium beers and lagers."

I used to love Guinness. My friends any I used to make these drinks called "Irish Car Bombs"
-half pint of Guinness
-half shot of Jameson Irish whisky topped with half shot of Baileys
Drop the shot in the pint and chug very quick, taste like choc. milk....yummm
Prob. not the best thing on a cutting diet.

Love those things =) I think they taste a little more like a chocolate coconut thing. Mmm good transition from liquor to beer.

It's good, but if you want to enjoy a drink, try Scotch Ale!

Wear kilts. A buddy of mine wore a kilt on st patty's day, and for some reason he didnt wear anything underneath it. Later on into the night it got ugly, needless to say.
I could always go for a becks or samuel adams. Light beer disgusts me. It pisses me off when someone goes out on a beer run and brings back BL smooth (bud light)

Prescription guinness
Believe it or not I have met elerly people who have actually been told by their doctors to drink guinness a day to gain the extra calories in their diet. Thats a great prescription. Wonder if their health insurance covers it? Not likely.

I had one to many of them one night in college....just the thought of an irish car bomb makes my skin crawl nowadays. I chose a shot of 151 over a car bomb one night, thats how much it makes me sick.

My Grandmother, from Waterford, S Eire, used to drink at least one bottle of guiness a day, the orginal not draught, and she lived till she was 92. And most of that with two of her legs amputated.... she would have a guiness sometimes instead of having a late supper.
And after reading above, Guiness has the same calories as orange juice, but more than lagers of beers like Bud etc. But it does have alot more nutrients and iron in it.
God, someone get me a beer nooooooooow!
