First time doing my "macros". 44.3/39.5/16.2 on 2441 cals, is this okay?
24 year old male
6'3
242lbs
Wanting to cut to 192 lbs over the next 5 months (lose 50lbs).
This is the food I will be eating EVERY day of the diet:
Meal 1: 1/2 cup plain old-style oats, 1 scoop whey, milk and blueberries
Meal 2: 6 egg whites, 1 yolk, larger serving of cheese (yeah cheese isnt great, but i needed to up cals and calcium for this meal), basil... scrambled together.
Meal 3: whole wheat pita bread w/ 2 tbsp natural peanut butter. 1/2 cup brocolli.
Meal 4: brown long grain rice, 1 cup cottage cheese
Meal 5: granny smith apple, 1.5 cups no sugar added yogurt + 1 scoop whey
Meal 6: 8 walnuts, 1 cup cottage cheese mixed together. 1/2 cup brocolli.
Calories: 2441
Protein: 230 (44.3%)
Carbs: 205 (39.5%)
Fat: 84 (16.2%)
Of my carbs:
29g fibre
79g sugar (milk, cottage cheeese, yogurt, apple and blueberries are the culprits)
What I'm trying to determine is if this is a good enough ratio for my goal (50lbs of weight loss). Are the carbs too high? Sugar too high? What should I do?
Meals #3,4,5 are out of convenience for me. I made them because it fits my schedule (minimal prep, good for on the go at work and school).
I never fully understood what a good ratio is, so please have a look at my diet and let me know how I could/should fine tune it. My basic concerns are short preparation time and vegetarian.
I've been away from the program for 2.5 months and wanting to come back hard--I'm motivated this time!
thanks a million for your insights.

More fats
More real food - where's the chicken, tuna, and/or beef?
I'd replace the cottage cheese in meal 4 with a nice 8oz chicken breast and a tbsp of olive oil, for example.
Meal #3 needs some protein
Otherwise, pretty good

I would add fats, I was just reading more fats tend to have better testostorone levels.
Once im done cutting I will keep my fats really high, which means tons of peanut butter and nuts.
You should have about 20% fats.
Later on, I am gonna do about 40%.
But remember fats will break down fats.
Personally I find the carbs to high and protein low.
Thats my opinion, so you need meat.

Damn. 44.3% protein is too little!?
Also, I'm trying to do this vegetarian so I'd rather say away from meat, chicken, tuna etc. I know I'm being picky. Its something I'm striving towards (vegetarianism).
I'll try and up the fats to 20, lower the carbs to 35. Would that be good?
45/35/20 ?

Well if you're a vegetarian that's a different story... you have enough protein (in my opinion), it's just that you could get it in better forms (though cottage cheese is great, you don't want it to be your sole source along with whey shakes).
A 45/35/20 split is what I actually do currently.

Hrm, okay. I'm going to try and shift 25g from the carbs to the fat.
That will bring me to: 230, 180, 109 (44.3%, 34.68%, 21%)
Going to check out things with some good amounts of fat... avocado anyone?
BTW big up from north york to TheLegace! Go Canada

how has 45/35/20 done for you? find it good? thanks for feedback man.
side note:
my sources of protein are actually the cottage cheese, regular cheese (in my omlette), 6 egg whites and a yolk, 1 glass of milk, peanut butter.
I am taking in more whey than I'd like (actually its two scoops per serving, so 4 scoop total...80g protein). But this diet "fits" me for now. I may decide against vegetarianism in the future (not totally sure on my feelings towards it yet... the philosophy and how i feel about animals). I'll see how it goes...
