Secrets Revealed

Ok, I got you in with the title. Let me say that there is a formula for success but its most likely been right in front of your face. The biggest secret is THERE ARE NONE. There isn't a magic bullet. No specific routine to make you better than ever. No matter what your goals I think these concepts that have been circling around really can help most people.
1. Decide what you are training for. It makes little sense to want to be a powerlifter and then use a bodybuilding routine. Nor does it make sense to want to just get in general shape while blitzing with a 12-15 set bodypart split. Everyone needs to identify the first step of "what do I want to do with my training."
2. Once you start a specific focus in regards to your training gather some general ideas of what you could do. A powerlifter could use a Westside split, a hybrid, periodization, 3x3 or even 5x5 training to reach their goals. Sadly, a lifter won't always know what is best until they give each method a solid try. Sorry but that is the truth. Everyone really is different and some of these programs might work better for YOU than the next one.
3. Be consistent in whatever you try to do. I have had clients that were very wishy-washy in their training and then totally shocked when they didn't reach their goals. That big bench comes from consistent training. You don't miss sessions. Consistency is a major "secret" that many ignore.
4. Your consistency will fail if you are not patient. Don't expect something like a 50 lb jump in a week or even a month. Be patient. If you aren't patient you will give up on your training program, start another one, be IMpatient with that routine, and on and on and on...
5. Larry Pacifico stated, "Hard work is everything." I read that as a kid and never forgot it. When you are training push yourself. Sure, sometimes it is nice to see friends at the gym. No problem. But when your time is up to hit that set you must focus and push yourself. If you want to socialize no problem but I doubt you read this far anyway.
6. Focus is important because you can channel your intensity. Whether its a visualization technique or just blasting loud music to ignore everything else, you must focus to succeed. I always like to think of this visualization technique: I picture two men walking down a tunnel. The enter a room. Red lights are flashing. They both site at terminals and put keys into special pannels. This start a launch of a nuclear missle. The missle takes off. Then the computer starts a countdown to impact. Once the mushroom cloud develops IT'S ON! Another technique I use is to decide what will create my rage. I lightly stompy my right foot on the ground and IT'S ON! These techniques might seem silly but lifting is even more mental than physical. Tap into that part of yourself to reach those goals.
Yeah, I could talk about protein, CEE and whatever else but many know about this stuff. I hope I have listed some basic points for your to reach your goals.
