Freedom of Speech Anyone?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15127464/?GT1=8618
For the love of christ on a stick, when will people learn that the world doesn't revolve around them. The world is made up of may different walks of life. That being said, when you bring a child into this world, it is up to you to teach them that fact and to make sure they dont go astray.
Why is it that these people think the world is just gonna stop when they find something that may be offensive? With countless cd's, movies, and books released every day one is bound to offend someone. Wether someone wants to write about witchcraft, or smoking crack, its ultimatley up to YOU to make sure your child doesnt end up churning a chauldron and smoking rocks of crack in an alleyway. Don't ruin life for others just because you fear you can't control your own kid!

Ironically, the author of Harry Potter is a mother of two. The lady that's trying to ban it is a stupid whore...

I agree it is up to the parent to make sure the child has a good head on his shoulders and no the differences between right and wrong.

Unfortunately, there are no child rearing schools (per se) and most of us do an abhorant job of raising our kids. In most cases, we don't plan child birth, children are simply a result of our unbridled passions. What's worse, some of us churn out children like baby factories, then become overwhelmed as parents, so we release our kids out into society--like a pet that's outgrown it's cage--and without any idea on how to be responsibile, compassionate citizens...hence, the decline of our society. I'm not sure what the answer here is, but something has got to be done!

Still many good parents

Of course, we're all entitled to an opinion. But when I look at our schools that resemble concentration camps, and episodes like Columbine, at least my opinion has some measure of proof. Try this test: ask 10 people at random, if they think parenting is better today, than it was 25 years ago. If you think parents in general are doing a better job, please show me where I'm wrong. Still I must say, in my previous reply, I was generalizing--I know that there are good parents out there that really care, and do an excellent job of raising their kids. But I still think they're out numbered 10 to 1. My comment wasn't meant to condemn all parents, and I apologize if I've offended anyone. If you fall in that elite group, of good parents, then I congratulate you, and hope others parents, and parents to be, learn from your example.
Here is where my bleak opinion comes from. In my community, I personally know the father of a 16 year old boy that was brutally stabbed to death by another kid the same age, because he was smarter than him. The boy that committed this crime was tried as an adult, and will spend the rest of his life behind bars. Who is to blame? The child? The parents? The system? There was another case, where an 11 yr old boy (at the time, if I'm not mistaken) was play wrestling with a younger girl. The little girl died as a result of a 'pile driver' the boy performed on the little girl. The boy was tried as an adult, and sent to juvenile detention. After his release at 17, he got into trouble again shortly after that, and was sent back--to real prison--after he turned 18 during the trial. In the system at 11! Kids murdering kids? I see a real problem here folks--one that effects all of us. This should not be happening, something went terribly wrong somewhere in both these cases, but instead of us learning from these tragedies, and taking measures to preventing other such occurrences, everyone is scrambling to put the blame on someone else.
