Coconut Oil
Coconut oil contains mostly medium-chain triglycerides, which the body does NOT store as fat, but uses as energy. The polynesian people who still eat a traditional diet rich in coconuts and its products do not experience the diseases and conditions as the typical American does who consumes a lot of hydrogenated and partially-hydrogenated vegetable oils.
The real reason coconut oil has received a bad rap is because the American Soybean Association is promoting the use of soybean oil and Americans are buying into that crap even though America is getting fatter and fatter.
I personally have been using coconut oil with my meals and my energy in the gym has increased.

Not sure how much fat is in the milk and meat. I just buy and use the oil. I can get 32 oz. for about $14.00 at my local health food store. If you're going to use it in protein shakes, you have to melt it by putting the container in a bowl of hot water for a minute, otherwise it will stick to the sides of your blender/shaker cup.

I see the saturated fat phobia is still alive and well. My God, when will the madness end.
By the way, coconut oil was fed to cattle back in the 30's but the cattle ended up losing weight, so the use was stopped. Coconut oil was also the main oil used for cooking before WW2, but the Japanese invasion of the Philippines put an end to that and even after the war ended, it was never used as much as before thanks to the soy and vegetable oil industries.
Saturated fat is not good with alot of carbs but saturated fat by itself is very good for you. It is the same fat that your body makes and uses for fuel. Numerous carnivore animals have ate nothing but meat for millions of years.

So you're saying that the hype about not eating fat and carbs together is true, and we should give up eating bread with butter?

it depends on what exactly were talking about.
a lot sat. fat + sugars is not good.
a lot of sat. fat + complex carbs is not as bad
unsat./polyunsat. fat + complex carbs isn't "bad"

YES.
it's MCT's which act essentially like carbs.

i know MCT's are a healthy saturated fat but i am interested to know if it decreases insulin sensitivity like saturated fats are known to do.
FYI, carbs + fats together making you fat is a myth. IMO, some fats should always be consumed with carbs for a slower, more steady insulin response. however, an exception might be PWO.

i wouldn't think so, they are used up very quickly.

not entirely, high sugar + high fat is no good. but for the most part i agree with you that it is a myth.

agreed, high fat + high sugar results in lots of calories. i was arguing more for combining all macros with every meal in moderation as oppose to having protein + carbs only or protein + fats only.

Try eating coconut oil on bread insted. It has a slightly sweet taste, although not nearly as strong as butter itself.

1.)In moderation, yes
2a.)Poison, other people, bits of metal, & the coconut husk are all bad things to eat, weather or not you are eating coconut oil at the time.
2b.)Coconut oil could be eaten with just about any food item without worry.
3.)yes, it is a bit high in sugar but none the less is still good to drink/eat.
