Does mixing Whey with milk slow digestion?
I am currently bulking and have been mixing my whey with milk instead of water so I get whey and casein in one shot.
Does the milk slow down the digestion of the whey or do they digest at there own rates? I don't want to use milk in my PWO shake if it does. If the whey is unaffected then it's an easy way to get carbs in my PWO too.

in short yes milk does slow digestion because its casein i beleive, most people use water PWO in shakes. for carbs most people use dextrose/ or maltodex or combo of the two. some also like me grind up oats and put that in also in their PWO shake.

Yes. Blinky is correct. Take it with water and the carbs he recommends post workout. The rest of the time would be good to take it with milk. To really slow it down at night you could take it with milk and also add some healthy fats like peanut butter or take some flax / fish oil tabs with it.

I work out in the afternoon so my morning shake is whey with milk and the post workout shake whey + dextrose + water. You can also have a pre-bed shake of whey and milk but the post workout shake ideally should not.

I think there are studies showing people who took casein post workout made better muscular gains then that of whey. I think a mix of casein and whey post workout is actually best. But thats just me.

The only reason milk slow's digestion is because of its fat content, the fact it has casein means nothing. Using milk w/ very little to no fat will have no effects on the absorption of the whey. It would actually be benficial to consume something like whey + skim milk post workout imo.

That's the way I do it. Fat Free milk + oats + Whey post/wo.
I can't understand why Whey in milk would be absorbed slower because of the Casein. The Casein in the milk will absord slowly, sure. But the Whey should be absorbed quite quickly even in the pressence of Casein.

yep. plus the addition of sugars (12g i think) although not much, it would provide a quicker uptake as well.

I do the same, and also milk is 80% casein, 20% whey as well. Although its low gi, its high on the insulin index. Casein is good
