you are on the wrong course if its that bad, make the most of it this time around as you dont want to go through re-sits and all that.
i have to study some things that are just appear pointless and boring to me too, but just do a bit at a time and try to avoid distractions

Heres a few tips:
1. Study in the daytime (whenever you have spare time, even if its for 10 minutes).
2. Dont do it in bed. Get a chair (non-cushioned if possible) and study there.

Heat up a pan of oil and put your arm in there. You won't sleep for ages.

caffeine pills; take regular breaks; don't leave a tv on in the room or radio or the internet; write up flashcards as you study whenever you see something you think might be important (don't overdo it, you can always go back and write more, you don't wanna be stuck on the same page for an hour cause you're writing flashcards on everything, lol).
Also, I like changing up locations. For exampe, study an hour in the library, then go study for awhile outside under a tree, etc...

Econometrics... I dont generally have trouble studying but I just got off a 3 month summer break and I always kill myself off during the final examinations and then as a treat I don't do anything I think is boring all summer which is why I have so much trouble getting back into it!
Thanks.. the library is closed in the weekends so but I study there during the week... but I usually go there with others and end up talking a lot and hardly studying (I'll try not to do this next time then, btw I always keep it down and ask if I'm interrupting someone so I'm not being an annoying person in the library here, we always sit in the area where ur allowed to speak).

damn man...im so glad those days are over at least for now...i just graduated recently...but i would go to the library and have to read like one chapter..about 30 pages...and i would sit there and doze off and have to reread the same page like 8 times befor ei made it through...i just could not study for more than like 5 minutes unless i was in 'the zone'...only thing i can say is...sometimes go to where there's a lot of people and hot girls to keep u awake...or, set short term goals, like go to a comp lab to study, and say once i get these 5 pages memorized or read, ill go to bb.com for 5 minutes or somethin lol, good luck!

Take this from me. I am a master of slacking off and coming through in the end and getting A-'s
-Get some light, lots of light. Make sure you study area is clean and nothing infront of you to distract you.
-Get some water, you will drink it while you study(to meet your 1 gallon needs as well)
-Make sure you are not hungry
-GET RID OF ANY LAPTOPS or SHUT DOWN DESKTOP. ( you can go on those for hours and your eyes will be too tired to read after that)
Read feeling lethargic
http://news.com.com/Feeling+lethargi..._3-964918.html
-Same goes for TV/Video Games.
-Put that cell phone on vibe or off. (most ppl got AIM and that can kill time.)
-Write down the stuff you want to get done, cause if it's not written down, it doesnt seem important..IMO
-Make plans to study in hour session, take short breaks and bathroom visits to relax and get back to work.
-Dont think about sex.
-Dont make bootycalls.
-Dont drink alch. while you are studying, it's a doozie and dont smoke.
-if the top three dont apply, then ignore them and read the one below.
-Organize your notes and your study material, it creates less cluter and keeps you from feeling tired and overwhelmed!
-Picture youself doing good and remember the last time you f'd up! now pic one of the two and go for it.
-WRITE YOUR GOALS DOWN!!!!!!!!
I duno, but i feel great after I workout and I feel more alert. Try doing that if possible.
Good Luck

wow thanks ive gotten some awesome adviec here
anyways i remember back during my finals i would sleep during the day and study at night
would it be ok to stay up all night to study or would that just screw up my biological clock (which is already kinda messed up)?
cos im totally focussed and in the zone and I have been taking naps all day anyways, and im a total night person, like when i have to redecorate or reorganise my room i wont do it till 12am, and i always study much better at night and fall asleep much better in the afternoon/late morning and im totally energetic when i go out at night and sleepy at college
anyways, at night its just so calm and quiet everywhere, and im just in the zone so i think i will study for like 5 hrs straight now before i go to bed then sleep for 4 hrs and then head to the gym and study some more though i really, really, really hate studying during the day..

It's a schedule II substance, meaning it is very addictive-potential.
I've taken it before and it makes you feel good and alert and feel like you can talk a lot. It makes you feel interested in whatever boring crap you have to dredge through.
It's completely diminishes your appetite and sex drive as well as makes you very anxiety-prone. Oh, and forget about sleeping until it wears off.
If you do it enough then (as your tolerance grows) you'll have a harder and harder time being able to enjoy normal things in life (like sex, bunnies, and the special olympics).
If you do it, do it once and maybe a couple of days before exam.... and then mail me whatever you don't take

Adderral is an amazing drug for studying (although i agree with you about the addictive part). I wouldn't take it for the first time the night before the test, some people don't react well to it and it makes them jittery and nervous ( one of my friends tried it and freaked out, and it was not a high dosage). What was previously said about the side effects is exact. When I began using it I suddenly became interested in the most boring material. It also makes your mouth dry so you have to drink a lot. It diminishes your appetite and gives you tons of energy. You won't fall asleep on this stuff, and I don't know about anyone else but I had really strange dreams when I would use it. It also made me want to write a ton, I would take so many notes on this stuff.

coffee, listen to my mp3 while reading, coffee, lying down and reading, listen to hockey
Mostly just find a space where your buy yourself with no distractions and late at nite when know one is around. That way it will take you less time--

fcuk adderall. I've used it in the past---but what happened with me is I tended to drift away from studying and do some other activity-and with adderall you just go crazy on whatever your doing, so I ended up just flailing away at some random activity for 5 hours straight, and then laid in bed, not able to sleep at all----and when the effects ware off you feel like absoulute horrid ****-like you haven't slept in days.
So why the fcuk take adderall right before the finals? I guess you could take adderall agian on the final day...
The ****s not worth it in my opinion, its addictive, lame, keeps you unable to fall asleep, and just plain nasty.
Just stick to caffine pills and/or green tea if you need a "Boost". Green tea and/or yerba mate does the trick for me.

i do exactly the same thing but don't do what I do and try to study in bed because that may be the root of the problem... read when you feel more energetic - not after a big work out at the gym. keep your fluids up - water, coffee, juice, whatever. music can also be good because it can get your brain motivated to start thinking again.
but like i said i fall asleep reading textbooks too so maybe you shouldn't listen to me haha

actually studies have shown that if you study before you sleep, what was studied would bemore likely stored in your long term memory.

I am going to agree with this.
I solved the boring text book putting me to sleep problem by not buying any and just paying attention in class. But I absorb information better that way.

Lots of coffee or red bull. Coffee beans are great too.
If it got to the point where I just couldn't stay awake at all, I'd probably take some adderall. But don't let it become a habit.
The best way to study is drug-free, but coffee isn't too bad for ya.
