Living in the Washington area and spending a good amount of time in DC proper, I meet all sorts of people who work for all sorts of weird agencies. One thing that is absolutely phenomenal is the number of agencies in this town. I have always worked for the private sector, as I am not so sure I could live with myself being one of those tax-paid administrative snobs who studies the social ramification of mullets for a living.
Every politician who comes here promises smaller government. Well they're doing a great job, as you can see:

In fact, the Department of Education is about the only aspect of "big government" which has been gutted, ironically in a time where we are being totally smashed by asia in math and science.
I'm currently finding the "Office of Violence Against Women" created in 1995, sort of amusing.
First of all, as if women weren't beaten prior to 1995. Then, you know this group is made up of statisticians who feed administrators with data that they then give to delegates, who try to use the data to pass even more PC laws.
Here's one of their initiatives:

"Take the Pledge: What Men Can Do to Stop Violence Against Women"
1) Don't punch them
Done.
Funny how we've moved past women's lib and into this era of "equality" and yet women are still expected to be treated like little fawns

who can't possibly report some jackass to the ****ing police if he punches her in the face. "It's more complicated! The violence is intertwined with love!" Ok, well, then take a damn right cross for love, and shut up. Or don't. But we don't need a dmned tax funded Office of Inequality post-Liberation like this.
So what's your favorite government agency?
I mean just look at this ridiculous list.
