The need for rest.

Im following Rippetoe’s starting strength program which is on monday, wednesday and friday.

I understand that I need to rest on tues, thrus and weekend to so call let my muscle recover/grow, but isit a must to do so ?
What will happen if i put in alot of hardwork and go to gym everyday like this,
Monday - Workout A
Tuesday - B
Wednesday - A
Thrusday - B
Friday - A
Weekend - Rest

*Is it because when we are recovering our muscle will be is building a new tissue of muscle on them and if we train during that period the new muscle tissue will be wear off and we will destory our effort ?**

Im just asking hehe cause i wanna understand more, please dun bombard me heehe.

With Regards,
Jimmy

You will end up failing. The rest days are part of the program. More is not always better. The first few weeks it may seem like you're not doing enough, but by the fourth or fifth week you will be cherishing your off days. Do it right and let it work.

Yep, when you start out and you're only at 70% or so of your maxes, it seems "easy". Wait until you're right at your 3 X 5 max on every exercise and you'll want those rest days. What will happen is that you'll wind up constantly resetting because you can't add weight to the bar.
